As long as I'm on an upgrade binge I figured I'd ask about AVRs.

I love my Marantz SR5004 but there are a few things about it that really grinds my gears:

1) Poor bass/crossover management. Unless I'm missing something, crossovers cannot be done on a per-speaker basis. I have to set one crossover for all 7 speakers. Seems very limited.

2) No HDMI throughput in standby mode. I'd like to just turn on the TV to watch the news with my coffee in the morning instead of having to power up the whole home theater. HDMI switchers I've tried don't work consistently to solve this problem.

3) No separate control of EQ for Stereo listening and Movie watching, respectively. Basically you set up user EQ curves and then have to apply them manually on the fly. One thing I loved about my old Denon is that you could set your speakers up one way for movie watching and another way just for 2-channel music. I like more sub volume for movies and less for 2 channel. Again, very limited.

So I am looking for suggestions on what AVR would suit my needs best. It would have to have:

1) Separate settings for movies and 2 channel listening
2) Preouts
3) Excellent EQ/Bass management
4) HDMI throughput on Standby mode
5) Audyssey MultEQ XT32
6) Dolby Pro Logic IIz

Was thinking about an Onkyo TX-NR818. Any other suggestions?

Yamaha Aventage Line? Seems very well reviewed.

Newerer If $1200 is your price range I'd definitely stay away from Marantz, you've got to spend a bunch of coin to get XT32, only their top of the line SR7008 which retails at $2,000 has it. Which is ridiculous. I have a SR7005 and can't honestly say it's avertised musicality justify's the brand's retail price over the yamaha stuff.

I was actually considering an Onkyo HT-RC370. It's on accessories4less factory refurbed for $400. Has everything I need. Anyone own one?
