I just got done re-working a pair if Infinity RSb... sand and refinish the veneer, refoam woofers, new gaskets, dynamat, re-cap and all new inductors/internal wires. Fun but difficult project, and really enjoying the results paired with my B&K.

FWIW, I find most of the vintage/classic Infinities bright to the point of etched; YMMV, of course.

As a counterpoint... I like thread titles like this one's. It's like a box of chocolates: you never know what you'll get!

I can say with some certainty that I wouldn't have looked at it had the title been "picked up a pair of Infinity RSe bookshelf speakers"... and this thread would've had two less posts and wouldn't have benefited from my expert opinions

    ahem

I wouldn't have looked at it either, because I'm not interested in Infinity speakers. Nothing personal. Imagine what the forum would look like if everyone used titles like this.

The point of a thread title is so that folks can get a preview of the content--and avoid wasting time with stuff outside their interest range.

Poor thread titles make that difficult.

My feelings exactly. When you come to Club Polk you expect to see posts about Polk speakers. I have no problem skipping over threads that are started about other brands of speakers if the title lets me know what the thread is about, although I do consider them off topic at Club Polk. If the title of the thread is "So..." it is a waste time to have to open the thread to find out what it's about.

Another problem with titles like that is if someone does a search on the forum in the future and the search returns, "So...", as one of the results it is useless and another waste of time.

I think it is ok to post about other vintage speakers in this part of the forum. After all it doe say, "SDA, SRS, LS, (old) Monitor Series. Whatever you love, this forum is for you." just so the title is adequately descriptive.

Yes, not only proper title saves reader's money, but also helps narrow down search results in the titles.
AK also has the same problem with titles like

    Really
    What to do
    This is funny
    Help

And some are not even related to the specific forum.

    Klipsch RB81, KG3.5, B&W DM602.5, Polk.

Not true. If someone searches "Infinity RSe" this thread will show up. And if, sometime in the future, someone is really searching information on this model speaker. They most likely would open the thread to see whats in it anyways. I mean, if I were searching this speaker model and came across a thread title...."don't open this sumb!tch"....I would still open it. Just sayin'....

I guess you are right. The same people who would come to a Polk forum to search for "Infinity RSe" are also likely to come here to search for "sumb!tch". Now the title "So..." is starting to make sense to me.

I have no problem with the OP making a thread about his Infinity speakers and do look forward to seeing them. I do have a problem with the word So,. It is becoming as bad as Like, like you know? If you start a sentence with SO, try removing it and see that the sentence is still there and actually sounds better. I will now quietly goosestep back into the GrammerNazi bunker. :D

Amazing how many people took the time to write about how opening a vaguely titled thread is a waste of time. There must be some sort of irony there.

Well I for one, as with old Polk speakers, am a big vintage Infinity fan. I certainly welcome posts/discussions about them. As well as any other brand of speakers really. EMIT's are amazing to my ears. Although....I've never heard them being run on tubes! ;)

Sorry if the message is not being conveyed correctly. No one is saying not to discuss Infinity speakers. Only point is to have a relevant title for the thread, so people who have no interest in the conversation don't waste their time clicking into it. Discuss anything you want.

Not trying to insult the OP or anyone's feelings towards Infinity speakers.

I'm going to bow out of the discussion here, this dead horse is sufficiently beaten.
