    Best jam band ever Grateful Dead---best and tightest band Rolling Stones ---most original Jimi Hendrix Experience---marathon performances Bruce Springsteen E-Street Band--reinvention of the blues Stevie Ray Vaughn---best singles producing The Beatles--
    for sheer spectacle Pink Floyd--most energenic performance Ten Years After--individual performer Elton John. Again this is so subjective and then what genre what style,take Jeff Beck absolute consumate guitarist but is he better w/ Nickey Hopkins and Rod Stewart or now w/ the jazz fusion stuff.Yes Nickey Hopkins is deceased but needed an example.

    Elvis, chuck berry, the who, the beatles, the stones, floyd(although i dont much care for a lot of their stuff , huge talent and influence), zep, jimi, nirvana(any band that had that huge an impact on the music scene, to the point of creating a new sub genre, influencing so many others, they cant be left out of the hunt), eric clapton(and his many different ventures), queen, pearl jam, chris cornell(same as clapton), and of course, since theyre my favorite im gonna have to throw RHCP on my list. there are many others i feel could compete for the spot, and many on here would not even consider some of my choices, but thats why its my opinion. they represent a few different eras of rock, and i feel that there cant be a definitive top rock band, but more a collection of them.

    IMHO opinion the greatest band of all time is Led Zeppelin... I say that cuz you can walk down a boardwalk today and see teenagers wearing LZ tshirts outnumbering all of the others by 5 to 1.

    Well maybe not today cuz it's too effin cold...

    Does Little River Band classify as Rock? Not sure, if not, then my vote goes to Judas Priest with Rob, Glenn, K.K. and those other two guys in the band.
    I am too young to listen to the Beatles and say 'that's rock'. Compared to many bands that proceeded them, I am sure it was a revelation.
    Ain't it great we have such variety in the first place?
