Hi all -

I just pulled the trigger on a used Musical Fidelity m6i integrated amp. I read reviews, know the name Musical Fidelity, and knew it would have enough umpff to drive my speakers. I'm excited to get it and start the listening process. I'll update when I get a chance to get my ears on it - probably end of next week sometime!

    I'm actually at a loss...

I bid on it at audiogon, it was accepted, I paid, but since the PayPal transaction cleared (which took forever) I haven't heard rom the seller. That was 3 days ago. It is an audio store, not an individual, and just today, another user left a negative comment - the first they received with more than 130 transactions. What should I do?

I found the seller, tons of positive feedback since 2008 and still has 20 items listed. Perhaps the guy is in the hospital.

Usually if I see something and the seller is a legit audio shop, I call them directly and buy it over the phone instead of going with 3rd and 4th party transactions. Cleaner that way, no additional fees, Visa protection, and you get to chat with the seller and ask some questions. Best part....all done in 5 or 10 minutes....not waiting days.

Is the store in Atlanta??

Seriously, depending on where the store is located, maybe there is a reason...

    Here is the original listing:

    http://app.audiogon.com/listings/solid-state-musical-fidelity-m6i-integrated-amplifier-2014-01-24-integrateds-45429-kettering-oh?show_listing=true

It seems the store is located somewhere in Ohio. I will try to call in a few hours and see what i can find out. I'm not upset about it at all - I'm an understanding guy - I'm just hoping I get it in good condition when it comes - It seems the negative feedback that was just left had to do with a lack of communication, and sending an item that wasn't as described. Before this one bad feedback, it was 100% good, so I'm expecting that something is up - hopefully it's not 'Store went out of business - tough luck'. The payment was sent January 24th, and it cleared the 29th - so I have 14 days after January 24th to get money back?

I may not be up on the latest with PayPal, but my understanding has always been that they are useless at getting money back UNLESS the deal was done on eBay.

Did you pay through paypal using a credit card? It sounds like it was an "e-check" though.

If using a credit card, you can try and reverse the transaction amount through them (Visa, MC......)

If you didn't use a credit card, it may be mcuh tougher to get the money back....

However, hopefully this is a "false alarm", and you will hear back from them on monday.....

I've heard others having a tough time with getting money back if there's a confirmed delivery, i.e. the item was not described but was received. However, if there's no tracking number or delivery receipt, the OP has a better chance of getting their money back. Still, I always prefer to pay with a CC like an AMEX who would chargeback paypal without blinking, and paypal would just take the money from the seller.

I called today at noon (they were open from 9-2:30). The phone rang 15 times before an answering service for the company. I gave them the story, my phone number. They didn't respond in the 2 1/2 hours left in their business day. I'm hoping there isn't something big going on with the business. Who knows. Anyone near to Kettering, OH, which is where Hanson Audio is located? Maybe they can shed more light. I'm guessing if I don't hear from them by Monday, I may be in trouble.

There is a comment on Hanson's Facebook page from someone who visited their store this past Thursday the 30th, so they seem to still be in business. They have a very nice looking store, inside and out.

MY MUSICAL INTEGRITY INTEGRATED ARRIVED :)

Poor communication, but it arrived in great shape! Here are my 'initial' impressions - based on one hour of listening -

It offered a much stronger, and richer bass extension. I didn't notice much in the way of mid's or high's from the previous setup. One thing I did notice was that it had a more 'digital' sound. I listened to some Pink Floyd 'Dark Side of the Moon' SACD, Metallica 'Black Album', John Coltrane 'Best of'. THe Coltrane to me sounded A Lot better and clearer. THe other two, stronger bass (Money from Floyd sounded awesome), but the mid's and high's had a more 'digitized' sound.

I thought the unit was a store unit, but looking back on the listing, it was listed as 'Store Display' unit, so maybe it has to be broken in?

One thing I need is a phono pre so I can hook the turntable up as this has no phono output.

One question - I always had my preamp plugged into the monster power conditioner, and had my amps plugged directly into the wire (I thought I remembered reading some time ago, that it was better not to plug amps into the power conditioner). Is there a preferred method for an integrated amp? Right now I have it plugged into the power conditioner.

Plug straight to the wall pal, that Monster PC imho adds a veil to the sound to some degree.

Never heard a MF piece ever being described as a digitalized top end....maybe a better match in cabling is in order.

Same here - if anything, my A5 was reviewed as having a smooth top end - which I tend to agree with.

And agree with tonyb -different cabling can allow you to 'fine tune' overall synergy.

Which AQs? IC and speaker cables?

Even within AQs line, you can get some pretty wide swings in the tonal balance -some are brutally transparent (bordering on 'bright', imo) and others can be smooth as butter.
