SPEAKER STANDS for RTiA9's

Just wanted to share!

It may seem like overkill, but, overkill is where I sometimes live.

As I'm in between houses, current space has me changing my set up of 7.2 from a wide front stage to a 7.0 with rears.

Getting A9's to blend with FXiA6's was as easy as doing a few measurements and some woodwork. Now the difference in height between the tweeters are inches instead of feet.

    Looks like a great job with the wood working, but RtiA9's on stands look like an accident waiting to happen. Do you have them cabled to the wall in someway? In my house, a dog or 4yr old grandson would knock one of those over in no time and get squished.....

    Long time Dan, good to see you!! You are correct my friend however, I gave the entertainment stand a face lift to accommodate a new amp, it's only a two tier now instead of three with a built in CC stand

    Thanks for the compliment. No, the A9's are just standing there, but I made the stands pretty sturdy, the base is wider than the tops and I have levelers under the bases. My wife and daughter are great around them. If you come over with your grandson, I'll put the a kiddie gate around them :cool:

    Thanks brother, the "sounds" is exactly right, the bass that comes through the rears is pretty awesome. When I go to 9.4 and move the A9's back to wide, I'm tempted to get another set of A9's for the rear, they are pretty bad a$$ as a back surround speaker, but, I'll most likely do another pair of FX's.

    nice work - yeah, I was wondering what size that tv was. I was thinking like a 24" or something haha,
    seriously though, I can't joke - I'm a little crunched on space, and trying to decide between a 46/46 and whatever the next size up Samsung is...
    can't get over the stand mounted A9's... :D

    I'm gonna agree with overkill especially for the room you have them in and the placement. You would have been much better off for surround with a pair of In walls or In ceiling speakers for all the Surround duty speakers.
    You could however repurpose those massive 9's are Front Wides IF your Onkyo has that ability. I didn't see a model number.

    Some people get all crazy with wild ideas and placement only to find out that with a little rethinking and putting down your man card for a minute, that you can have a much more balanced system in the room it's going it.

    I still like it however because of how crazy it looks. I hope no one knocks one of them off the stands. They are pretty heavy and could hurt someone or be damaged.

    Dan, those were originally wides in his last place. He moved and adjusted. He wants to go back to 2 sets of A9s as front/wide but just cant in that setup.

    So they were not "intended" to be rear surrounds from the get-go.

    I didn't think so. I would never use them like that in fear they would hit the ground. Not to mention the placement for surround back is slightly off , to wide and not far back enough. I would have also mounted the Surrounds on the wall.

    I think it looks awesome, but I would fear of them being knocked over as well..

    RTiA3's or FXiA6's would be a better choice.

    Two sets of A9's up front would be freakin sweet!!

    Space is so limited in this temporary set up, and Danny has already mentioned what my preference is as far as location. You can't tell very easy by the pic, but the right surround is wall mounted. Once I get into my new home, I'll have a dedicated once again and I'll be back to "normal" as much as possible :)

    Very nice craftsmanship Geoff. Now that you have the blue prints, make a set for me in black for when I purchase new front left and rights and move my A9's to the back.

    I saw the title "speaker stands for Rtia9" and I thought to myself, surely has to be something wrong here. lol

    LOL, thanks for the complement Neil! It's been over a year, and some new changes have been made. In spite of all the "safety" questions that were raised, the rear stands were quite stable and withstood a knock and a bump, and due to the location, they were pretty much out of the way as it was.

    I was able to score an Integra 70.4 and now looking at a 9 speaker set up. I've rotated my room 90 degrees, so my front stage is on a wider wall. I've got a 2nd pair of FXiA6's to replace the A9's as rears, and moving the A9's back up to wide.

    I'm currently building a solid oak stand for my gear, finished in golden pecan, and will make new rear stands for the rears with the same finish. I'll post pics upon completion!
