Why is it that when my dogs yawn, it makes me yawn---but when I yawn, it has no effect on them?

If I could lick my own "special place" I'd never leave the house.

It's funny you talk about yawning.

We know a person that yawns right after she tells a lie. Too funny! She is a loser, liar and a fraud and everyone knows!! I'd say she is a dog but I have too much respect for dogs to put her in that class.

I suggest that you can solve this "mystery" with a mirror. Put your dog in front of a mirror and watch what he does, then contrast that with what you do or see there. That's your answer!

I don't think anyone really knows. I'm certainly not up to date on the literature, but "How stuff works" presents the 4 popular theories, most would be (somewhat) consistent with "contagious" yawning.
