Looking at opinions on the SDA 1A's. Don't see much on them here. Usually other model SDA's are preferred and talked abou. Also, what would you pay for them if they were in original and in good condition?

Bruce, I just finished a pair, and they sounds awesome. Once the crossovers are upgraded, RDO-194s installed for the Stereo side, and the Dimensional Tweeters disconnected, they're quite good.

David, How do they sound with the dimensional tweeter connected? Does the extra tweeter give more SDA effect or maybe a reverb sound? What exactly does it do? I'm curious.

Since I'm used to single Tweeter SDAs, the sound was odd, and kind of phasey. It didn't add to the sound quality, it detracted from it on certain recordings.

I can't say how they stack up against their younger siblings, the 1B and C with progressive point sources, or the Big Boys, but comparing them to my 2ATLs and CRS+s, they sounded equally good. The my 2As and CRS+s have the better RDO-198s, never-the-less, they were impressive. Sonicaps were used in the Hi & Lo-Pass sections, and Mills Resistors. You can save some coin, by not doing any work on the Dimensional half's Hi-Pass section, if you eliminate the Dimensional Tweeter.

In case it helps with gauging the market, this pair has been on CL a while at $300 or BRO.
