Rt2000i and Rt1000i worth repairing ?

I've found a set of each rt2000i and rt1000i speakers for $100. The owner says one of the powered subs on each set doesn't work and one tweeter on one tower isn't working. Would these be worth buying for 100 in hopes of fixing them.

At the least you could probably part them out and get way more than $100.

I believe early to mid 90's. I have some 2000P's and they are 1999 models I think.

I have the 2000P's, the mids could be better, and for what they are the bass is solid and does well. Overall, if bought cheap enough they sound good. I do know the 2000i models got tweaked crossovers and a 100 watt amp as opposed to a 200 watt on the 2000p model. I. Haven't heard any i's, but I would imagine they sound as good if not better than mine. The 1000i models are similar to the 2000's, just use a smaller amp, and I think 1 6.5" sub compared to dual 8" subs in the 2000 towers.

I think they're worth pumping in a couple hundred dollars. I enjoy my RT1000P's quite a bit, even thought one of the amps has a bad hum. I just turn the subs off and use only the top half of the speakers. I know some complain about the mid range but I find it to be very controlled. Great speakers IMO.

I think there are a pair of Tri Lam tweeters on Ebay right now for $80. There's also a guy who repairs the amps for about the same price. I'd say get the RT2000 amp repaired and don't worry about the amps in the RT1000's.

I agree and would look into fixing the speakers. I wasn't saying I wouldn't fix when I said the mids could be better. I really enjoy the speakers and the RT2000's look intimidating. But I am a big fan of the RT line anyway, so maybe I am just a little partial. I contacted Polk as one of my towers needed a tweeter, I believe Polk has new ones for around $85. I would fix them personally, just saying if for some reason you cant, you could part out and make some money. Good luck either way Dropthebeat.

I picked up my rti series in 2000. The craze of the dvd era and hometheater seemed to really take off with dolby digital and dts decoding.

Great speakers and yes it gets expensive as you want to build a 5.1 set with preferably a matching series.

I'll throw in as the bad apple of the bunch.

I've owned both those speakers, honestly you'd be better served with an old pair of RT55's and a decent sub. Another older similar sized big bookie is the Kef q60, paired up with a 505 subwoofer and I believe you can get better performance from either of the speakers your looking at.

I will agree with tonyb, I have the 2000's and 2 sets of RT55's I use. If you take the powered subs out of the equation, the RT55's are far better. I do enjoy my 2000's though. Find yourself a CS400i center and your golden. $100 for all, I would buy and fix.

I would get them in a heart beat, but I already have 2000s and 55s. I would then have plenty of spare parts. Fix the amp in the 2000 and keep the 1000 for spare parts. At the same time watch CL and eBay for another tweeter an/or amp.

Im with you Halo71 on projects, I have been tinkering with the idea of buying the mounting faces from RT55/800's and mounting the second driver in my RT2000p's. I freaking love these, have them for sale at the moment, but want to mod them. I am sure they wont sell because I want $400 for them, as I don't care if they don't sell, in very good shape. I love will always love the RT line.

Check them over, humidity and RT speakers really don't get along. Either way, cant go wrong for $100 for all.
