Can I fix the surrounds on some 5As?

Hey, guys. I'm new here. Good to metcha.
The folks over at Audiokarma suggested I ask here about fixing surrounds on the passives in my recently purchased set of 5As. Is that possible?
The outside edge of the rollover where it flattens out to glue onto the basket has cracked/torn in spots most of the way around
on one of them and in just a couple little spots on the other. I've read a couple of random threads that suggest trying to repair with black RTV silicone. (I tried the search function here, but I couldn't get the terms specific enough and it just returned too many threads to be helpful.)
What do you guys think. Can I repair these for now? I know that replacements are available, but I'm operating under a pretty tight budget and would like to try to fix them myself first.

Wouldn't mess with it. Go to eBay and start looking. Some small tears have been fixed with sub par results sounds like your's may just be rotten from who knows what. I would get the number off the back and start a search on ebay.

Hi, and welcome to Club Polk. Do your 5A's woofers and PRs have fiber gaskets on the outside of the flange? If so they're early models. RTV Silicone will not stick well or last long with the rubber surrounds Polk used. There are several 8" PRs on eBay right now, but they all appear to be for the later 5B which means they may be tuned differently.Home Theater/2 Channel:
