New speakers dead tweeters

Hi all.
Per my title I just received some monitor 70 series II's, unboxed and hooked them up to an Onkyo 609 i've had running pioneer speakers a couple years.
Ran audyssey and it won't detect them, hooked back up my old speakers, and they were detected fine.
Little investigation found audyssey won't find a speaker that has a non-functional tweeter.
Re-plugged my new CS2 into right and left to check and it works fine, but don't want to proceed in case the Onkyo caused a failure. I have a new Denon receiver in box and an Adcom amp to push the 70's.
I just sent an email to tech support so just posting here in case it is read faster.
Would calling the 1-800 tomorrow be best?
Upon a bit of researching on the web it looks like some others have had problems with the tweeters in these if not fed enough power, which I didn't have the amp in the system yet.
The speakers sound great for not being broke in and having no tweeter though lol.

Did you actually stick your ear up to each tweeter to see if perhaps they are actually dead? You can also remove the tweeter to make sure they didn't somehow come undone.Main Surround -

Since you say they sound great the tweeters must be working because no speaker sounds great with a dead tweeter.
Hook them up, take a paper towel roll or the like and carefully put it around the tweeter, stick your ear at the other end and give a listen. It will be easy to tell if the tweeter is working or not.
You should also check that the jumpers on the binding post plates are screwed down tight.Political Correctness'.........defined

Yup, and did remove the tweet from the CS2, hooked it up on both the 70's, works fine and the tweets from the 70's don't work hooked up on the center.
@F1, nice idea on the paper towel roll, but already tried the tweet from the CS2, it works fine on both 70's, the ones from the 70's don't work hooked up to the CS2 center, nada, no life.
I didn't say they sounded great - I said they sounded great for not being broke in and having no tweeter lol. -

I'm starting to see an awful lot of threads about dead tweeters on not just these but also on the rti's.
I won't pass judgement until I see how it's handled.
I gave up on Pioneer from problems with their car audio products I had, a friend of mine swears by Polk so i'm hoping I just got a bad luck type thing.
I can still return them but would rather not.
After spending $1500 to upgrade your sound you tend to hope it sounds better.. -

My friend I mentioned said Polks customer service is second to none.
I'm patient and bad lots happen.
The CS2 sounds like it will be a terrific center for my upgrades.
As long as things work out with the fronts I'm planning on some 60's for rears and a pair of those nice looking owm's for front highs.
I've been a car audio junkie all my life but kind of getting bitten by the home audio upgrade thing now lol. -

The tweeters in any speaker are normally the first to go when the power, be it amp or AVR is over driven from excessive volume causing a clipped signal to be sent to the speakers. It has nothing to do with the type of tweeter or the company making the speaker and everything to do with folks thinking they can just crank it to 11. Now, in your case it seems to be a matter of defective tweeters. As long as you purchased them from an authorized reseller, Polk will take care of it.
As for Pioneer, their Elite SC AVR's are arguably the best on the market today.Political Correctness'.........defined
