It's a Denon DVD-3910. So we got home a few hours ago, watched Jumanji (old right?) worked perfectly no problems at all. Then my son decided he wanted to watch Superman, I have the Christopher Reeves collection so we watched the second one. Off and on and consistently skipping and messing up pretty severely. After about ten minutes it stopped completely then at around chapter 21 it just stops.
I took the disc out and there is not a spec of dust on it. Put it back on, it won't play ch. 21. Turned it off, unplugged, tried again same results.
We're watching Aristocats right now and there isn't anything wrong with it.
Understand the superman movie hasn't been watched until tonight.
I'm a little confused more than anything and feel confident it's going to work tomorrow on another movie. I know these players are prone to just failing out bc of the cheap lasers but it went from working perfect until right at the middle of Superman II. Now it's playing Aristocats perfectly.
Any suggestions? a new laser is an option, they aren't expensive of course and wouldn't be a problem installing. I was upset we couldn't finish the movie bc it's one of the best movies out of the four.

I was thinking of trying a 2800 I have, it's always worked but that would mean having to hook it up. I don't understand how it could be the disc though, there isn't a spot on it anywhere!! that's why I'm confused. I need to try it on the computer. I probably do that tomorrow.Home theater:

aw man, you're right, it was the disc, it didn't work on my computer! that some crazy mess!!!!!
I'm puzzled:( I wish I had watched the movies when I bought them lol cus I've had them for years and just now watched them and I'm sure I can't just walk into best buy and say I bought these and they don't work.
but I'd much rather it be a $15 disc then a $1500 player.Home theater:

Ah the fun days of playing back media from a disc...

I love my "discs", maybe as much as vinyl jockeys love their LPs. lol
