For HT surround, they're excellent for the price.

For the price? IMO, they're excellent period!!

My plan was to expand my 7.2 to a 9.2 adding another pair of RTiA9's in rear surround duty (currently using A9's for SB and doing a fine job), but, instead, I'll add another pair of FXiA6's to do the job instead. When that happens, the rear A9's will move back up to wide channel.

Sounds like it's time for a single A9 for the center channel!

Back on topic, have the FxiA6's, seem to do their job just fine. :)

The ability to switch dipole/bipole is nice if you want to play with the spaciousness of the surround channels.

    The Fxi's are awesome speakers.

I only have the FXi3's and I have zero plan on them going anywhere any time soon.

Correct, Dipole for side placement and Bipole for rear placement.

As Upstate stated, you are correct however, you can experiment with both settings to see which setting you prefer. This link should give you a better understanding, it even has pictures

Bigger is better only problem is how big your front and center are, 6 is the way to go if you got big setup...you are correct on your question but I really depends on you...

I really loved my fxi3's, especially with video games that had surround like killzone. You cannot beat those speakers in HT for the money!!

You can find them on Polk ebay occasionally for less. Plus, you can call them to ask about availability on refurbished that aren't listed.

I'll remind you, if you're ready to purchase, you can call them as they sometimes have the stock and is not listed.

I wish i saw your post a week ago. You're the person who i need to ask!

I've had a9 fronts and surrounds as 5.1 system. Since i have a narrow and longer living room. After I placed the A9 on the sides, there's only like 1.5 feet to walk by on each side. This is why I was thinking about the Fxi A6 to replace them.
I've had them on craigslist for a month. I Finally sold them.

My question is you, is that would a9 be better and create a better sound field compared to fxi a6????

to me, because the speakers are too close, you really can't hear the "left" surround speaker if someone is sitting on my "left" side on the couch. It's that bad~
