Left channel blew from static discharge

My beloved McCormack DNA-250 lost it's left channel last night as I touched the pre amp to turn it down a big static shock followed by a very loud hum result no left channel.
Well it's there but extremely low might as well not be there.
I checked preamp channels to verify and still no sound so I swap left speaker to right channel and it works..
Any thoughts on what could have blown here's a few pics..
Will pits pics a bit later as I have to make the file size smaller to fit..
But it looks fine to me inside the fuse seems fine but oh knows..

You mention some swapping of speakers, but I'm not clear what you did. You need to check each amp channel individually with a working signal source to rule out a blown channel. If both amp channels are fine, you know the problem is in the preamp.

I disconnected the right channel IC which works fine, then I switched the left channel IC from amp to the right channel on preamp and nothing..

Static discharge can be death for some gear. Also any sort of in rush/pop from turning source gear on in the wrong order.

I've been getting a pop in my tweeters sometimes when I will hit the menu button on the remote for my Blu-ray player. I also have an upscaling DVD player hooked up and it does the same thing. The reason I have two hooked up is I've been watching a TV show on DVD, and it's just easier than having to remove the disc every time I want to watch a movie. But it happens on both the DVD and Blu-ray players. It's not as loud as calibrating my AVR, but it's not subtle. I haven't noticed it when listening to music CDs and using the remote to skip through songs. Does my system have gremlins?

IMO, the problem is going to be in the pre amp. Did you check the fuses in the amp or the pre amp? If it was the pre amp that you checked the fuses in and they are ok, then you will need to take to the shop.

BTW, a fuse can blow and still look good, but since you swapped them it would seem they are ok.

Jesse I checked the amp fuses and swapped them to see if it was just a fuse..
It's the amp nothing out of the left channel, I checked left and right channels on the preamp and switched ICs from left to right the right channel on amp will work on both left and right channels on preamp, but if I try the left channel on amp and swim it from left to right only right channel has sound..
I have pics but they are 1.5mb in size to big to post on here, not sure how to shrink them down to post here 512k is maximum size for Polk..

Interesting that the charge didn't damage the pre amp and went thru to the amp. Anyway, it could have taken out anything from resistors to output devices in the amp. Best have your tech look at it.

Yes my initial thought was the preamp because that's what I touched first.
I was in the process of turning it down to change the album and when I touched the volume button I saw a spark and then a very very loud hum and I immediately pressed the power button to turn it off, maybe tests what saved the preamp and allowed the signal to get to the amp..
Either way I'm pissed as I have a little play money to upgrade something but now I hope it's covered under a warranty of sorts, at least I would have thought a fuse inside would have blown to save it..

Sorry to hear about the Amp no help there from me. But for the pictures if you are using windows, open the picture using Paint then select resize and go for 50 on the Horizontal and Vertical. You may have to do it one or two of times until you get below 512K.

    Cheers
