Just scored...

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/pho/4266022742.html

These will become the side/rear surrounds of my HT build. I plan on building the SRS2's right into the walls, and using Polk RM7500's as rear height and front height speakers.
The Gear... Carver "Statement" Mono-blocks, Mcintosh C2300 Arcam AVR20, Oppo UDP-203 4K Blu-ray player, Sony XBR70x850B 4k, Polk Audio Legend L800 with height modules, L400 Center Channel Polk audio AB800 "in-wall" surrounds. Marantz MM7025 stereo amp. Simaudio Moon 680d DSD

You are welcome any time. It should be quite entertaining to have this kind of firepower in the HT room. I see no need for subs of any kind with 4 15" passives in the room. Should also prove to be quite musical as well for concert videos.

It may not, but for the price, it's worth a shot. There are no other speakers I could get for the price that would be better.

I don't plan to run them with the SDA cable, but rather to wire them up as regular stereo speakers. I know I have been here a while but still need to get my learn on. Why would this not be a good idea?

I wasn't talking about the SDA cable, although you are on the right track without it being in use. I was talking about the same thing F1 mentioned. That being the placement of the speakers built within a wall. No matter how you slice it, the end result will not turn out good.

So if I stand them 6 inches off the wall and not build them in, it will work? Or an I better off moving these off to a friend?

It would definitely sound better if your room is big enough John. These type of speakers are not engineered to be built in wall and need room to breathe. The only possible benefit to having them in-wall would be the equivalent of an infinite baffle, if you will, but the disadvantages would greatly outweigh any benefit of that type of baffle.

The room is 20 feet on the long wall by 16 feet on the short wall. The 1.2TL's are set to be 42 inches off the side walls.

Congrats John, those look like a really clean pair of early model SDA-SRS2 with the blade/blade IC. Possibly 1986? I'm running a pair SDA-SRS2's pin/blade 1987 speaks as my mains in a 20' x 22' x 9' room. Will be interesting to hear how your setup sounds, what size of room are you working with there?

Perfectly. Six inches off the back wall is in the ideal range.

If you get SDA's too close to a back wall they become a boomy mess. The same would happen if put into a wall.

Congrats. When I first set up my Home Theater with SDAs, I had my 2As in front, and my CRS+s in the rear, on stands so the drivers were above ear height when seated. The CRS+s were setup with the interconnect, and I used the 5.1 setting. It was very enveloping to say the least. The main problem was you had to be in the sweet spot for both pairs. I've since moved to a custom 7.1, but the old setup was still very effective. Try them as rear/surrounds with the cable in 5.1, and see what they sound like.
