Hello, I am new to the group and hope that someone can assist with this problem. My RM-1000 sounds terrible and does not work as normal. I am fearful that something like a capacitor or a crossover may be damaged. Has anyone else had a similiar problem? If so were you able to locate the replacement parts onlline or from a local distributer? Any help would be apprciated!
Thanks, Noel

    Hello labadida,
Welcome to Polk's forum. Can you describe what you are hearing? Is it distortion when it produces bass sounds?
    Regards, Ken

    Hi Ken,
Thanks for the greet! It barely produces bass sounds and distortion increases with volume. I appreciate your assistance! Noel

    Hi Noel,
The RM1000 consists of a 10" diameter passive radiator and two internal 6.5" diameter drivers. In all likelihood one or both of the 6.5" drivers isn't working correctly. To figure this out, turn the unit upside down and take out the screws that hold the 10" passive radiator onto the cabinet. Then remove it, letting you see the 6.5" drivers. You can remove each of these, disconnect their wires and, at a very low playing volume, connect a right or left speaker wire to the positive and negative terminals on the driver and see if they produce any sound. Resist the temptation to increase the playing volume, they should make sound with a small amount of power.
When you figure out what is happening, call Polk's CS department (1-800-377-7655) for replacement parts, mention you have joined Polk's forum for a savings.
    Cheers, Ken
