Am I losing it?

So a few weeks ago I picked up a pair of RT55s with suspect looking tweeters. They sound ok to me but I was able to locate a pair of SL6502s advertised as NIB so I picked them up. Last night i switched things out. At first I didn't think they sounded much different but today I'm thinking the bass has improved quite a bit. Does this make sense? Could switching the tweeters really improve the bass. Or is it possible that something was missing in the higher frequencies and now that it's there the separation is more noticeable? Or is my imagination getting the best of me?

If the tweeters are brand new, they'll need a break-in period. During that time their output may be slightly lower and or different than the old ones. If this is the case, the bass would appear louder than before, even though its actually not. Did you double check the polarity of the old ones and the new ones?Home Theater/2 Channel:

It's like a new pair of leather sole shoes. Any transducer with a moving coil attached to a diaphragm, dome, or cone, has a break-in period.Home Theater/2 Channel:

By checking polarity, do you mean making sure the white and black wires are connected to the proper terminals? Yes I did. It's practically impossible to switch them on the tweeters since the terminals are different sizes. I also checked the ohm on 3 of the 4 and they read 5.5 ohms. I didn't think to do it until after I started the second one.HT- Samsung PN50B860/Integra DTR 30.3/Rt55 Fronts
