It appears that I just blew out the very top driver in my RTi A9 (the 5 1/2 incher). I do not see a way to order replacement drivers on this site so I was wondering if the woofer from an R150 would work.

On Monday, CALL (do not email) Polk Customer Service to order a new driver.

What kind of power are you running Larry ?

    Good question.

@ OP, do you have just an AVR or an external amp?

I was listening to some Juno Reactor probably. My normal system is to use Rhapsody on my computer hooked to an external USB sound card, then a Rotel RTC-850 preamp and then an old Hafler DH-220 power amp (115 watts/channel). Stereo.

How loud or volume level do you usually listen and did you start hearing distortion?

Actually, except for an experiment, I've never driven my A9's with anything less than 200wpc. they've been thriving off 300wpc for some time. Currently, I drive them with 860w.

I'm sorry, did someone say overkill?? Again I'm sorry, I just don't know what overkill means

Geoff, I completely understand you. I started with the A7's with an old Denon AVR and realized more clean power was required. The A9's require more than the A7's. The W4S amp provided a significant amount of more headroom than the Parasound 2250 I was using. With the Parasound, I knew when to lower the volume when the amp started straining. With the W4S, I never feel or hear the ceiling but keep it within reason to not launch one of the tweeters through the opposite wall.

I guess you can call that foresight. You knew you needed more before you had more power. The hard way! Is she still your girlfriend?
