Like Keith sez at any of their more recent concerts, "Its good to be here........, its good to be anywhere". Happy Birthday and glad you are somewhere. Cheers.

    Not sure if Happy Birthday, or congratulations you made it is more appropriate so I'll say . . . . . . . . . . BOTH!

Agree about his book, a great read. He and Brenda have had some real hissy fits!

Anyone familiar with his band Expensive Winos? They do some good stuff!

Happy Birthday Keef! Yeah, I love the X-Pensive Winos. Waiting for them to tour again, there's been rumours... But now that the Stones are touring Australia and wherever in '14, I guess I'll be waiting awhile.

    Wow.

I think that if we ever have a nuclear war, all that will survive will be cockroaches, Twinkies, Keith Richards, and Iggy and (maybe) Marianne Faithfull.

So I guess things won't be so bad after all.

Why are people so surprised that he's lived so long? According to his book, he only used pharmaceutical grade cocaine and heroin. It's not like he was some street addict!:eek::eek:

Isn't Keith also a smoker? 70 for him is well over 100 for most of us!

He also fell out of a tree a few years ago and landed on his head resulting in a blood clot in his brain. Had to have fairly risky surgery. According to this his neurosurgeon now travels with him: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-515870/Why-man-saved-Keith-Richards-fell-coconut-tree-tours-Rolling-Stones.html

His blood is toxic to most diseases, he's like the Alien with the acid blood. He might be a real zombie! Dead and just doesn't know it.

    Rock on Keith! Happy Birthday!

I'll bet that - wherever he is - Elvis is pretty chagrined to have been decisively outlived by ol' Keef.

The article states that the insurance company required it, but that they became friends. I wonder too - maybe the stress of his practice became too much and Keith's lifestyle starting looking pretty good

One thing to note. If anyone saw any of the Stones performances from this year (there was a pay-per-view that I have on my DVR and I have the DVD from this summer's Hyde Park concert), it's worth mentioning that Keith is still going STRONG! In my humble opinion, the Stones performances this year were outstanding. Mick's voice hasn't lost a bit, he's still completely high energy and dancing all over the place, and Keith can still do his magic on guitar as good as ever. From the looks of him, the tires have a lot of mileage on them, but gotta hand it to the guy, he's still got the gift. I really wanted to see them when they were around NYC, but the ticket prices were out of control.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Completely agree. Keith and the band still can play but ticket prices are now insane. Seen them three times and always a good show but I'll pass if they come around again.

I saw them twice, the 1st time was in the summer of '71 at MSG and Stevie Wonder was the opener in his prime Talking Book or Innervision days and was fantastic. The Stones come on open w/ Brown Sugar do most of Stickey Fingers and rattle off like 40 songs and thought they were the tightest group I had ever seen. The 2nd and last time was a huge Bill Graham D.O.G. show. I think the opener was Eddie Money,Santana,Toots And The Maytals, next was Peter Tosh when reggae was huge. There was a long set break and then all of a sudden about 3 to 5 workhorse helicopters come over Oakland Alameda Stadium drop thousands of ping pong balls w/ the tongue logo on them and blow up dolls for the Some Girls album. While everyone was looking up the Stones hit the stage and ripped into Start Me Up.Can't do that these days any more and I must admit besides Pink Floyd you want spectacle and consumate rock and roll playing go see the Stones.

Leftwinger, sounds like you saw your first Stones concert with Mick Taylor in the band. Lucky man.
