DSW Pro 660 not working with Denon AVR-X1000 Receiver

Hi Guys,
I have a new HT set up of Polk RTAi5's for fronts, TL3 Center, and a DSW Pro 660 sub. All powered by a Denon AVR-X1000 Receiver. All works nicely except the sub. I ran through the Audessy setup, and it detected the subwoofer but producing small little notes from sub (barely could hear these). It set a +9db automatically for the sub, however, when all done with the set up process there was no sound coming from the sub when watching TV, music, or movies. The led on the sub is working properly, the sub is connected using a single RCA cable to the back of the receiver's "sub out", and the LFE is set to yes. Is there something I am missing here?
I'm new to HT so any help is greatly appreciated. Also starting to think I would like some more power to my RTAi5's. Any better recommendations for a receiver with Air play below $1000?
Thanks!
