Cambridge Audio iD100 Questions

I've asked Cambridge Audio to address my problem, but I have not received all the information I need. The specific question I need to have answered is:
How do I determine which version of Cambridge Audio's software is installed on my two iD100 iPod docking stations?
The "big" problem I'm trying to solve is that neither of my iD100 docking stations functions properly when connected to my daughter's new Perreaux DP32 preamp/DAC using the AES/EBU balanced digital input to the DP32's DAC.
The iD100s function perfectly when I use either the Toslink optical input or the S/PDIF coax input.
I have also asked the technical guys at Perreaux to help me solve this problem, but no response yet.
I only have one AES/EBU interconnect to try, but I've ordered another one to see whether the cable is the problem. However, I don't have it yet.
Because the AES/EBU standards are far from new technology, it seems unlikely that there is a "mismatch" between the standard implemented in the CA iD100 and the Perreaux DP32, but my experience in the software industry makes me realize that such problems are not impossible. And, the initial response from CA's technical support asked me whether I had the latest software running on the iD100s -- which is what precipitated my first question above.
Because a lot of guys on this Forum have a lot of experience with all sorts of problems, I thought somebody out there may have some thoughts about this one.
Thanks.

Oops! I neglected to note the main symptom of the problem.
When playing AIFF files out of my iPod through the iD100 into the AES/EBU port on the DP32's DAC, I get random, but persistent "skipping." The indicator lights on the preamp that indicate the sampling rate flicker, which means the DAC is not getting a signal.
