Best way to sell speakers
I have a bunch of Polk speakers I don't have room for. What's the best way to sell them? Some are BNIB some are used. What's the best way to know what to sell them for? Thanks

Yeah that's part of the problem. I have had them off and on Craig's list, but no luck.LSi15s, LSiC, LSiFX, LC80F/X, microPro 4000, Pioneer Elite SC-07, XPA-2, XPA-5, PS3

You're pretty much guaranteed to sell them via auction on eBay. Might not get the price you want though.2Ch Tube Audio Convert

Do you have a CSi40(center speaker)? I'm having a hell of a hard time finding one to go with my RTi70's and I can't post in the Classifieds yet.

I think you tend to make the most money on ebay, but with larger, floorstanding speakers shipping can be a pain.
Usually by the time I'm selling speakers, I don't really need to recoup any cash, so I throw them on craigslist at a good price. If nobody has hit on the speakers on Craigslist, you may have them priced too high.Polk Fronts: RTi A7's

And by the time you pay fees for ebay and paypal, you make a lot less than it initially looks like. BUT its the biggest market and comes with some protection built-in, so its still your best bet. I would also try audiogon, though Polk speakers don't tend to sell as well there.
If they are not selling in the greater baltimore area on Craigslist, the answer is simple: you are pricing them above market value. So either you bite the bullet and lower the price, or put them on ebay, or sit on them. The choice is pretty simply actually. If you are sincerely interested in their market value, put them on eBay as no-reserve auctions and be done with it.

Yes and no. Sale prices fluctuate wildly on there. I watched Oppo 980's sell like clockwork for $120 for months and then for a period of 3 weeks over the summer I saw several (including the one I bought) sell for $40-70.Display: LG 47" LCD | AVR: Marantz SR5005 | BD: Panasonic BDT-210 | CD/SACD: Oppo 980 |

Who said market value is consistent, especially on used or NOS personally owned equipment??? I simply start the auction at the lowest I am willing to take and set the buy it now price at what I really want. If you try that a few times and it doesn't sell, well its hard to argue about market value at that point...Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

And that's kinda like having a manufactured home sit on the lot unsold for 2-3 years. Damn straight and let me add that what gear sells for here is not an accurate representation of what it sells for on the open market.Political Correctness'.........defined

Well, I got a pretty good deal on this, so as long as its not a huge loss I will be fine. Based on what I saw on ebay I am selling in the ballpark of used speakers. If I knew ahead of time I would have moved three times in 1.5 years and was definately getting married I wouldnt have needed to purchase them, since she had a set of the same speakers.LSi15s, LSiC, LSiFX, LC80F/X, microPro 4000, Pioneer Elite SC-07, XPA-2, XPA-5, PS3

Because that's the way we want it.This is the first forum I have come across that you had to have a post count to sell.
It's been my experience that most forums require a certain post count. In fact, some charge you to use their for sale section.Seems like a good way to encourage people to spam threads.
People posting anything for sale outside of the Flea Market will find their thread/post gone quickly.Political Correctness'.........defined

I suppose it eliminates some sellers from not just trying to sell and keeps the site more of a audio community. I suppose if know how or want to get to a 100 posts quickly they could.
