I bought a Polk Cs2 from the official polk audio ebay store a few months ago and its currently hooked up to my Yamaha Aventage RX-A820's center channel. My receiver gets it audio via toslink optical audio cable from my tv and my tv gets its audio from a cable company supplied digital converter box. Recently I noticed the center channel produces weird sound almost like audio from a poor quality youtube video or online stream, almost a robotic noise. It doesn't happen all the time, on certain commercials and certain channels too. I noticed it somewhat when I played my ps3 but it was also a scifi game so that couldve been part of it. I switched one of my polk monitor 40's to the center channel speaker and didnt hear it for the small amount of time it was there, but The audio coming out of it was quiet compared to when the CS2 was there.

Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Hmm... lets assume this happens all of the time but is only noticeable at certain frequencies, but it happens all of the time.

My guess is you have a blown inductor in the midbass network based off my experience with what you are describing

If it is blown inductors tend to look "dark" - in the case of the CS2 it is wrapped in a black plastic and may appear melted. It may also look normal. The sure fire way would be to remove each driver, plug them up to your receiver directly (VERY LOW VOLUME) and make sure they sound fine without any distortion, then plug them up to the crossover free air and see if the issue then shows itself. It will sound like you are describing, robotic, static, etc

    Best of luck

I meant to add in I thought it was frequency based. So say I disassemble and find what you stated was the case, how would I proceed? This really sucks because I bought the speaker from polk and a few months later its doing this.

    Hello kevin0971,
Sorry there's a problem with your center channel speaker, but don't worry Polk will cover whatever is wrong. The best thing to do would be to call Polk CS first thing tomorrow at: 1-800-377-7655 and let them know you purchased it directly from them.
    Regards, Ken
