Seattle has put the rest of the NFC on notice

The Seahawks seem to be for real, this time.

This pains me to say, being a 49er fan, but I can't see anybody going into Seattle and beating the Seahawks in a big game this year. I can see someone like Tampa surprising them and coming out with a win, but don't see anyone beating them straight up. The rest of us expect them to implode and fade at the end, this being the Seahawks and all, but I think this is the year they break through.

If the NFC playoffs go through Seattle, and right now it looks like they will, the rest of the NFC including my 49ers are screwed...

    Also don't sleep on the Panthers. Their defense is playing very well.

    Yeah, as much as I'm not a Seahawk fan it's hard not to like the guy, I find myself secretly rooting for him when they're not playing my niners...

    As much as I miss hating on the Raiders and Broncos when we were in the AFC, the budding rivalry we have now with the 49'ers is taking shape nicely. :-)

    I don't know that they're a different team on the road. They find a way to win, not to mention we spent a stretch with a bunch of injuries on the O line. Now that most of those guys are back Wilson is getting better protection and lanes are opening up for Lynch. Can't wait to get Harvin back full strength.

    I would love to know the reasoning behind making the Seahawks 3 point underdogs at SF this week. I don't buy the excuse that they don't play well on the road anymore.

    Most NFL teams can beat any other on any given day given the right circumstances. No team is invulnerable. And the playoffs are often full of surprises and late surges by teams no one saw coming.

    That said. I don't expect SF to beat Seattle this time. But I don't see Seattle the automatic winner of the SB either. I've seen too many GREAT teams fall short in the last 10-15 years?

    Despite their record, people still see the two as close enough competitively to give SF the slight edge at home, why is that so surprising to you? It's not like Seattle are 14 point underdogs, that I could see taking issue with. If they were playing in Seattle then SF would be the underdogs. Besides, don't you WANT your team to be the underdogs?

    Fair enough, we'll just have to wait and see how that holds up when the playoffs roll around. If SF can't represent the NFC this year then I'd honestly like it to be Seattle. If nothing else I think Seattle fans deserve to cheer for their team in the big game.

    I picked Wilson and 'Hawks defense on my fantasy league and have another $50 side wager with a buddy of mine that was made late Aug. that Seattle was going to the 'bowl. Fantasy team is going to the playoffs and the $50 bet is looking good.

    Just imagine how good Seattle would be if Percy Harvin was on the field more than he is on the sidelines nursing one malady after the next...

    There was a good reason the Vikings sent him west, and though they suck badly this year, I think the Vikings got the better end of that deal.

    Wow, I haven't posted in these forums in a couple years and decided to peek in.....

    I was just having this convo at work, and I think Seattle may have the most well-rounded team on both sides of the ball, and Russel knows how to make things happen. Plays like a 10 year vet; can't believe he's only in his second year.

    I sure hope the prognosticators are right. This city NEEDS to feel some championship pride with one (or both) of our remaining pro franchises. For years we, as fans, have been beaten down and convinced we don't deserve nice things.

    Could be worse, you could be a Tennessee sports fan. The Titans suck more every year. The Vols suck more every year. The Memphis Grizzlies shows a little promise yeast year tho but fell short. Guess we have the Nashville Predators but I don't watch hockey so I don't know if they're any good.
