Talked to Dan in Customer Service and he said there was no Polk alternative to replace one of my MW6500 drivers from my Monitor 10's? I was surprised as I thought at least he could recommend an alternate driver......... not so. Not much help from Dan at Polk. Would anyone have suggestions on replacement? I read on the forum the 6503 replaces the 6500? Comments appreciated.

I've serviced Monitor 10s with 6500s, 6501, and 6503s. Your best bet would be eBay for a replacement, unless you want to change all four to 6503s.Home Theater/2 Channel:

I believe the 6501 looks pretty close in spec followed by the 6503.

If you keep the speakers symetrical (ie. 6500 and 6501 in one and 6501 and 6500 in the other) they should sound fine.

The only problem I see with the 6501, is the DCR is much higher than the 6500. I still believe your best option is finding a 6500 on eBay, or four 6503s. The cabinet volume and PR will easily deal with the slight VAS and FS differences with the 6503s. The DCR difference between the 6500 and 6501 may significantly alter the crossover frequency.Home Theater/2 Channel:

That's a tough one and I think you're right: the DCR is very important in this instance. It basically means you have an "all or nothing" scenario for replacing a bad driver.
