Polk 6000 turns on automatically

We just purchased our Polk 6000 sound bar and first off the sound is great. But an issue has come up, The sound bar will turn itself on automatically and I will have to turn it off with the remote. We can turn the channel with the sound bar off and then the sound bar will turn itself back on.
What can I do about this? I love the sound bar but will return it if it keeps up.
Thanks for the help.

Hello philscobra,
Thanks for posting on Polk's forum, I'm glad you like the sound of your SB6000. To be sure I'm understanding the problem correctly, the SB will turn itself on without anything being done to it, correct? Are you using any other remote control at the time the SB turns on?
Regards, Ken -
you are correct, the SB will turn itself on. We are using the Direct TV remote to change the channel and change the volume up/down on the TV. We have tried to connect the TV remote to the SB but this was happing before we tried to connect the remotes to the SB.

So, the SB will turn on when you use the Direct TV remote, correct? Rather than the SB turning on completely independently of any other remote being used, right?

Correct, if I turn the channel with the direct Tv remote and the SB was off, once the new channel is selected the SB will come on, This will not happen on all channels but will happen on the same channel that it just did not do it with.

Thanks for the clarification. Try this: put the SB into standby mode (the LED will be red) press the "learn" button for around 2 seconds. The LED should turn amber and blink. This indicates the stored memory will be wiped clean, however it will continue responding to its own remote.

Did what you said, Then I turned the channel with the Direct TV remote. Went to the third channel and the SB just came on.

I just changed the channel again and the unit came back on.

That's certainly unusual, it might be best to give Polk's Cs guys a call, on Monday, at: 1-800-377-7655.
