Well after hearing so much on how the RDO-194s are better than the SL2000 ,even with my compromised hearing there certainly is a major difference.I must say the Silver Domes were starting to break apart at certain pitch levels some but not all songs. The songs that I knew were trouble and I went straight to with no apparent problems at the higher frequencies.I did order Larry's Rings but they have not come in yet so what I'm doing right now is just a test w/o the Armacell gaskets being finished or even the polyfill put back. I do have the Dynamat and Black Hole-5 so I figured I was ok w/ this temp test so far so good.I have kept an ongoing price list to what I have put in to these and here goes.
1.Buying Speakers--$50.00 2.Oaxalic Acid Wood Bleach-$4.00--3.Sandpaper free--4.Steel Wool -free--5.Howard's Restore-a-Finish Walnut-- free--6.Dynamat Extreme--free(returned $20 square packs) Passive rears are fully matted now7.Black Hole-5--2 sheets and scraps $18 C/L
8.Liquid Nails--$3.75(had applicator gun) 9.2 Mills 0.5 resistors to replace polyswitches $8.00 10.Larry's Rings $60 ( when arrive)
11.C-Clamps $7.89 12. 9/32 drill bit $3.67 13.Armacell Gasket Tape Roll--$7.85 14.Polk RDO-194 tweeters $102.40 15. Windex
$4.00 + household uses 16.Pack Micro fiber rags $4.50---I think that's it so far $254.75
Now the x-overs are next years project ,I do have plans so all is ok and so far I'm please w/ all the results

Before I get to your question I forgot to say.I got in the mail yesterday the Black Discus.I was a little surprised to find out that they were hard and not a foam product like it looked like or I totally misunderstood the explanation.I used ty-raps on the + speaker outs and I can't say it's detremental at all but how do you explain something that just might do something but not quite sure.About the wall there is only the 40'' tv in the middle my cd/ movie book rack to the left and then far to the right and your not going to like this at all is a set of mom's plates hanging.Yes I have heard them clatter but they are mom's and I have to put them some where. If you were serious about spikes I have hardwood floors so that's not happening and on my coffee table there are enough books to counter any reverb from that.Your right those hoarder shows scare the sh%t out of me and I keep a neat house and would make a great wife so says my friends. lol

    Excellent

Very few people in this wonderful country of ours have better sounding speakers. Think about it.

Skip, I must say you have a very good eye. There is a little indoor/outmat thing that I use to ptotect the floors from my overlylarge and unweildly rack w/ the bottom level on casters for ease of movement.I could easily cut a portion away from the speaker and then it would be all virgin wood floor.Since I'm not done yet w/ the polyfill not in place and did not cut the Armacell gaskets yet there is more bass punch I'm sure to get out of these not that it's all that lacking now. this is just a simple test to be tweeked upon.Larry, did in fact p/md me and said they are on the way so it should be one more move for both speakers to work on and finish them off and then I will take in all your guys advisements. I've been in touch w/ Trey@VR-3 and told him x-overs will be next years project and has been fantastic through out this whole rebuild of sorts. Now a serious question, the wall w/ mom's plates being 5'1/2 away from the right hand speaker.I have seen treatments but are very expensive and not 20'' in width, so if I ditch the plates and put them somewhere else what could I do ,or should I just silicone the sh%t out of the plates and hangers and they won't budge, rattle ,or make any sound for that matter any more.

Cody , I'll agree w/ you on 2 parts of what you said. 1st yes the work is looking and sounding great 2. But my attitude towards taking and using advice from most of you guys is an accepted fact. Yes I will challange F-1 that the Bezel Polk talks about is the grill cover and not either the motor board (as I call it) or baffle as everyone else here seems to. and there are a few others ,but for the most part there is more to learn just going from post to link to link than ever could imagine....OAHHHHH

Lookin' good LW! I agree with Skip re: spikes. IME they improve both the bass and provide a little more clarity to the mid range. Find some with the discs or get some maple boards to put underneath the speakers.

Something like this? They also come w/ the floor discs and I can easily drill the inserts. After all is done then for $8 and change + shipping maybe I'll do it . Not all that convinced on a solid wood floor w/ no give big floor joices and no floor squeak.More bass clarity I might not need at all but I will look at all options.Let me finish w/ the rings ,Armacell, and polyfill. I'll relax and give it some serious listening time and for me to evaluate them the best I can.I'll consider all comers just no new I/C cable, internal wire, binding posts and cups , just not happening......Drumminman I see you do indeed did the the full 9 yards.(I know where that term comes from).

Making a puplic statement here.I can no longer post my signature ,I know it was abit pretentious so w/ all these mods and changes I want to change up my sig. I have asked around tried everything what Gimpod said to do to no avail.P/M still works but this does not and getting nowhere. No it's your time to turn up the heat and help me out a bit w/ this problem. The box that says check for sig is gone both on posts, reply to posts and on p/ms. HELP.

Those spikes look OK. If you already have have feet on your cabinets you don't need to drill, just find spikes with the same thread pattern/correct length.

Re: editing sig, I'm running the website in test mode. Log in and click on "Settings" on the top right of the page; When that page comes up the "edit sig" command is in the window on the left.

How do you "run the website in test mode"? The reason I ask is I've lost all editor functions when making a post. I thought that might be the problem. I don't even have a button for bold text or anything else. I can't figure out what's wrong.

Thanks! That was what I needed. I wonder why the editor doesn't work for me in Red/Gray mode?

I again tried it just for giggles and no matter what color it's in there is no showing of sig for me at all. About 12 people have told me the same thing and I tried all their ways and none of them works. It's in the the I/T deal at Polk. They are the only ones who can rectify this unless I start a whole new pw ,un and re register and I do not want to do that. Does anyone here have any pull around here, you all comment on how superior the c/s dept.is and I've had no problems w/ that but this I have called and nothing.Do not tell me to change colors it does not bring back the sig or the check boxes that are needed to show or not to show them. This much I know.

Go to: Settings-->General Settings and scroll down to "Thread Display Options" and tick the box that says: "Show Signatures". Maybe that will work for you.

Tennman I did EXACTLY as you said and scrolled down and ALL 3 BOXES ARE CHECKED ALREADY under thread display options.so no joy there. As for quick reply there is no check box for show sig or not. I'm telling you guys it is not here. I might be for 8,000,000 of you but not here.Listen I've been here for well over 3 years now and while clearly not a computer science major there are things I notice ,work and then don't. This is not working, Ken was no help at all ,thankfully I can still post and add pix when I need to. If not fixed fairly soon after the full mods of the 2bs I will list my sig and if it doesn't come back so be it. For most who know what I have it's not a big deal or deal at all but every day we get newbies and it's a good thing I think to show what some cash, advice, resourcefulness and prudent shopping can bring some enjoyment in one's house. Thanks for trying unless there is a master dump of some kind no matter what color or test position it's in it's not happening from my machine....LEW
