I searched and googled but could not find much info. I am trying to decide between getting a set of the new polk monitor series from New egg.

2x 65t @$150 each
1x 15c @$100
1x 35b @$135 pair

Or saving by getting the Monitor series 2

2x monitor 60 @$100 each
1x cs1 @$70 or cs2 @$100
1x monitor 30 @$100 pair

I'm using a Denon 1612 and a BIC F12 sub. They will be in a 12 x 12 foot room. Is The newer monitors worth the extra cost or will the series 2 perform as well for cheaper?

Frankly, aside from a cosmetic upgrade, the new Monitors and the Monitor Series IIs use the exact same drivers.
Save yourself some money and go with the Monitor Series II.

I was in a similar predicament.
But yesterday newegg has the Monitor70 Series2 "black" for $149 shipped.
So I went that route. Pretty damn good deal I could not pass up.
I AM super excited for them.

Definitely go with the CS2. I had the CS1 for years and always regretted not getting the larger center.

If your stuck on the Monitors, I would go with the cheaper ones as they look to be almost identical, however I cant be 100% sure of that as they moved the tweeter location on the 65t model. The CS2 is the better center and I would go for that IMHO.

The Standard Monitor series is still a NICE step up from a HTIAB. However with that said if it was me, I would be looking at the RTi series on Polks ebay site. Yes they are refurbs, and you may take a bit getting all the pieces as they dont always have every model listed. but they come with a factory warranty and Polk has done a great job of taking care of their own.

In addition you normally can get them for ALMOST the same price as the T series monitors. And everyone here will agree the RTi are better (even if you have to go smaller) than the Monitors.

If it were me I would be looking at RTi A5's, RTi8's (same thing just different series) and CSi A6 or CSi5 (again same thing different series) and RTi6's, RTi4's or RTi A3's or RTi A1's.

I think that would be a HT you would be happy with forever, as the Monitors normally make us realize how much better thing CAN sound, then you want to upgrade. To upgrade you have to sell your Monitors which you take a hit on by quite a bit, if you can even sell them.

Better to do it right once. But if you cant, the cheaper Monitors are more than adequate for your needs.

Welcome to Club Polk to OP!

Upgrades are for two channel. Get the cheaper monitors and you won't have to spend the rest of your life pestering your wife to upgrade the HT. lol

Two channel is for music. HT? You won't hear a "fantastic" difference between the best reference system and a middling one unless you talk yourself into hearing it? I know many here won't agree with me but I've heard a couple of 100K+ systems installed "professionally" by an expert in the business and I thought they were OK but I wasn't blown away! The room was even built specifically as a DEMO room with appropriate dimensions and treatments, everything you can possibly do was DONE!

Go for TWO! I stand by dorokusai's statement: "Home Theater is easy, two channel is where it's at!"
