Hey guys...
Over the past couple of weeks, I (along with Endershadow and others) have set about putting together a new forum where we can discuss everything... It is audio based, but without any of the restrictions that come with the territory of a site beholden to a manufacturer. I invite all of you to come over and take a look at what we have begun, and join in the discussions.
The concept is much as it was for the defunct "Polk Army" site, so this place should be a new place to discuss all things audio and those things important to you.
The only rule is treating each other with respect.
Check it out here...

No offense intended but no thanks as I can see already it seems to be headed down the same path as the "Polk Army Forum" did, God, Guns and Politics. (IMO a bad combination)“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” ~ Mark Twain

Interesting.... Never had either of those items.....
And I take offense at that Tony.... I am potty trained, I just choose not to be. Its a choice"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

Besides, the notion that you can never talk about that which divides us is silly. How do we ever hope to accomplish anything if we can't talk without violence or insults in a civilized manner ?HT SYSTEM-

The problem my man is quite simple: 1. I don't know you from Adam. You're not a human being to me. I don't have to look you in the eye and see your joy and your pain. And neither one of us will EVER change our minds because of what the other says unless a. we are very rational people open to changing our beliefs based and reason and evidence or b. we know the other person and have experiential or personal connections that cause a change of heart and belief. 2. There is no moderator. I talk about these issues all the time in my courses, but I am leading the discussion, and everyone knows that if they get out of line (i.e. offensive languuage or personal attacks) they will be penalized or kicked out of class. 3. There just are some people who you should not discuss the above things with (see 1.b).
Having said that, good luck with your forum. Hope it goes well for y'all.Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

And there's the problem. Pointing at politics specifically, I can't think of a single online discussion where politics hasn't derailed into a full blown train wreck. It appears the masses are incapable of having a healthy, logical debate about anything relating to politics, so I can't blame Polk for banning that topic from its forums.
Rooftop said it best in regards to no one ever learning anything from those types of discussions. Everyone's too busy being riled up/ arguing for their point to take what someone else of a differing opinion said at face value. It's a shame, but it is how it is.2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

Guys... it's really quite simple. If you want to participate in a civil discussion, please do. Mods are in place and will enforce the rules regarding the conduct of civil discourse. If you don't want to participate in those discussions, that's ok too.
The new forum is intended to be engaging and thought provoking, with much more leeway to discuss what is important to you.The Gear... That's a failed thought process my friend. That's how we learn, by sharing thoughts, opinions, facts, discussion. If we stick with past notions without an open mind, progress will never be made. Maybe that's why everything around us seems to never change year after year, election after election. Some are so entrenched in their beliefs, they don't even want to listen anymore. Listening in and of itself is just as important to the process. If you can't talk.....nobody listens. Maybe some will get a better grasp of things , maybe not, who knows. Point is to just talk and express ones self. Nobody is looking to assimilate anyone. LOLHT SYSTEM-

There's a difference between "passionate" debate, and all out shouting matches. I have no use for the latter, as no one is listening. Joined. posted a couple times. Will enjoy discussions with you guys over there.
Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Try again Trey. I told ya man, they aren't potty trained yet over there. Probably have to wait awhile until they get squared away.
I jest of course. Though I did put 5 bucks down on Dan's daughter being potty trained before him.HT SYSTEM-

The mods had incorrectly set the "DO NOT LET PEOPLE IN WITH MANNERS" toggle.
It appears that has been corrected.
.... but not before I snuck in. Hmmm. It appears "snuck" is not a word. Let's try "sneaked in". ... Okay, that's better.
Kind of nice to have a place where opinions can be expressed that might be controversial/upsetting to some. I can understand Polk's position on certain topics and that's their right and might be / probably is the correct business decision to make.
I'd have to disagree with the "Nothing ever happens, nothing ever changes" viewpoint. If that's true, then MAKE something happen. MAKE something change.
