RTiA9 When 300wpc is not Enough

Not much to say here. I've provided a little eye candy for the A9 users at this forum.

By slapping an Emotiva XPA-2 on my mains, I've always been able to blast the crap out of 'em. Now, with an XPA-2 on each main, I can really blast the crap out of 'em.

These 2ch amps, now in bridged mode, supplies an acclaimed 860wpc!!!!! The head room is pretty awesome. Audyssey had my mains set at -3.5 and -4 while on 300w. They are now set at -9 and -8

So.......here's a little treat for A9 power must haves............

Nice setup, love the "clean" look! Can't imagine that much power in what looks to be not a very big room?

Also, a little overkill with A9s as back speakers? Personally I would have gone smaller back there.

    Enjoy!

Don't you or your guests feel the rear A9s are too close? Is it even safe to sit there during movies at or near reference levels?? Like 1 feet away from the drivers?

Cool man, but I smell new tweets in your future.

With the subwoofers taking up the power hungry lower regions, why do you need all that horsepower for the mids and top end ? Just curious is all, looks cool but imho you need harder to drive speakers to bring those amps out of sleep mode.

Why not just run a mono bock on each main instead of a bridged 2 channel.

I have a huge curtain over the back bay windows and I never have the lights on when viewing. The glare is never an issue.

The head room I gained is unreal. I'm using way less volume for both 2ch and H.T.........and 2ch is pretty awesome

Lol really? The rears are on 10" platforms so the mids and highs are overhead and blend seamlessly with the FX's. Of course, the bass coming through the seats are an added bonus.

Well, bridged, they are mono blocks. And price turned out to be the biggest factor. I paid 1249. for the pair, with warranty's and 860wpc as a mono block.

    Yes, next question please :)

I try to keep an open mind, besides I like new stuff that I can afford.
I noticed you have an 808 do you use the 2 channel mode with those amps?
    Are you happy with them?

Absolutely!! The AVR is actually an 807, does have "pure audio" mode which is pretty awesome. Always has been even before the monos.

I got the 3ch amp about three years ago, the first 2ch amp close to two years and just picked up the 2nd 2ch amp.

They have done great in my set up and I have no complaints.

Of course, the greatest benefit of these amps won't be realized until I get to move my stuff into a larger dedicated room, but for now, I'm enjoying the extra head room.

Sure, there are much higher quality amps out there, but for the price, a guy like me on a budget can't go wrong with the emos, they come with 5year warranty's and are transferable if you sell it.

Those 2.3's I bet are some pretty bad a** speakers, Zane is in the process of upgrading a pair, I'd like to hear those bad boys.

350wpc from the Parasound is enough to play music at a solid clean and clear 100db, and doesn't get unbearably loud until almost 104db, can't imagine needing more power!
