This picture merely highlights how "miraculous" the human EAR is! Because if it takes all of THAT to simulate what we hear with those tissue thin membranes and supporting cast in that tiny space in our ears that's impressive!

You also need to remember that Japanese women tend to be on the short side. Those may only be about 8 foot speakers.

When I first looked at this today [can't respond to threads via mobile for some reason], the first thing I saw was the tubes sitting on top. My word, why? If someone has the room for these behemoths, I would imagine they would have room for dedicated and isolated stands as well.

Somehow Tom, I'm thinking those speakers must weigh in at roughly 1500 lbs. a piece, if not more. I would say vibrations wouldn't be an issue with those sitting under the tube gear. However, it does look silly in any event.

I'm more curious about the massive speaker overhead in the photo.

Eh, perhaps Tony. I still wouldn't do it. Can't really figure out the setup here. 2 really large MTM arrays stacked and L to R appears to be what........4 to 6 feet apart? Mono system?

I thought I'd seen the end all be all when I saw this:

    Clearly, I was mistaken.

Has anyone actually heard any systems like these? If so, what's it like?

Closest thing I've heard is some of the Venetian rooms at CES, but that was only a few hundred thousand dollars of equipment. :p
