Knowingly bought a car for my wife and not on ebay

Thought I would share pics of my wifes new car.

I really wanted her to have the Ford Fusion Titanium but the Hyundia Azera with Tech Package won.

Never in my wildest dreams thought we would buy a Hyundia but they have come a long way.

We looked at a lot of different certified preowned cars and new Toyotas, Fords, Nissan, Infinity and a few Lexus.

The features this car has and for the price was an excellent value, oh yeah, no Bose here. Has Infinity speakers.

Nice lookin' ride, thsmith. Yeah, neither Hyundai nor Kia are the same companies many of us thought they were just a few years ago.

Nice I bet the wife is Happy, now go out and buy yourself some new audio equipment. Hyundai's make good reliable vehicles priced well. I bought the wife a Nissan Rouge a couple of years ago she loves it,it does have a Bose system but she is happy with it, I have to admit it don't sound half bad for a factory system. I bought myself a AWD Kia Sportage, Kia's and Huyandais are one company nice vehicles. The Kia has a factory Infinty system in it and I'am happy with the sound. It appears you did good. Plus around here there are more Hyundai's Kia's and Nissan's on the road than any other vehicles.

Funny John, Only Porsche I would own would be a 911 SC, no targa or convertible. But at my height and weight that is not going to happen.

The Azera has a dual overhead cam 24 valve 3.3l V6 with 300hp. None of that much matters as my wife drives conservative. It can get out of its own way though.

I like the looks of many of the new Hyundais (Hyundae?)... the new Fords, too ;-)
I wonder how the current crop of Hyundais are going to hold up... that, I think, is the question based on their past.
Hope it turns out to be a great choice; keep us posted!

The two 02 Hyundai Elantras I bought new have only been to the dealer the 1st week for a minor brake cable adjustment and a trim piece. Since then it has just been the usual things tires ,batteries, shocks and a brake caliper that got stuck. Nice to have something that you just drive.

IMO, I think they are taking claim in the marketplace today based off of what they learned from their past. Their cars are winning saftey awards and have some of the best warranties and value in the industry. Its obvious these guys have pulled apart everything out there on the market and have hired ex Audi engineers, etc, etc, etc. to get to this point. The next five years is going to be interesting.

Even though Ford used to own Austin Martin at one time I have no idea how they pulled off the Fusion design without getting sued....must have been a pre-agreement?

Anyway, the Azera is sexy! and it along with the Ford Fusion, Mazda6, Kia Optima, Kia Cadenza, Chevy Impala, Infiniti Q50, Cadillac XTS, Lincoln MKZ, Audi A7, Tesla Model S, Jaguar XF, Lexus ES, and GS 350 F Sport are the best looking Sedans out right now IMO.

I would take a Hyundai Equus or Genesis Sedan R-Type any day...although, I wish they offered an AWD version.
The Genesis Coupe R-Type and Track easily rival the 6cyl Mustang for value to performance.

Hopefully they can keep making products to shake up the establishment.

At the price of the Genesis coupe r-type, it's priced between the 6 and the 8 cylinder Mustangs.
The v6 stang I got was a lot less than that. About the most fun you can buy in the low $20k range.

I keep hearing how Hyundai has changed, but I never thought they were that bad to begin with. I ran an '90 Excel into the ground. The only bad thing was their transmissions and that was only a $392 repair. Otherwise, no real problems and 40 mpg highway. Just rusted out on me. On the other hand a recent list of the 10 most unreliable cars included 5 Fords? Now I hear that Ford has come back. So what is this list about? Personally, I've owned one or two Fords ('70s, 80's) and they pretty much sucked!

I guess the Azera is the upscale model from the Sonata so it must be very nice. Hope your wife enjoys that. My '02 Impala is getting ready to RUST OUT so I'll be looking for a good "used" (one year old) replacement. I almost never buy new these days? Love that "depreciation value" on an almost new car. Otherwise they are Overpriced! But if you can find a year old car with a remaining warranty at about 1/2 of the MSRP new you can pretty much pay for it up front and be debt free!

R-Spec "base" is $28k which gives you everything the Mustang V6 performance package does for $26,600...plus some that you would have to go to the aftermarket for on the Mustang.

Sure, it slots between those in price but is closer to the base Mustang GT is performance (down on power up on handling).

And if you think the base V6 Mustang is "fun" then you haven't ever driven a Fiat 500 Abarth...or a Mini Cooper S...or a BMW 135i (Used market of course)...or a Hyundai Genesis Coupe R-Spec...or a Honda Civic Si...or well, the point being, there are definitely cars that are as fun if not more fun than the V6 Mustang in that price range.

And nobody will laugh at me either. Try that with a Fiat, or a boxster.

The Hyundai has more US parts in it than buying a GM. The process
heavily automated- the most of any car company. And that means
more uniform quality. They started the long warranty to cover early
production problems. They have improved greatly.
I took the wife to look at them, but she refuses to buy a non-US
based car. That's how the Mustang happened. And v8 wasn't in the budget.
The new v6 is almost as fast as the v8 of a couple of years ago. And out the door at
$22k (2012 closeout!!!!) Not a lot of fancy toys. No nav, no blu-tooth, cloth seats
(preferred in Texas heat). Just shut up and drive kind of car.
The car THSmith got sounds like a pretty nice ride. I wish the Mrs. was open minded.
just shut up and drive. A

Tell that to my buddy with the 320hp Fiat Abarth bought used for $18k and added $3500 worth of turbo, tuner, intake and exhaust...people laugh right up until he hands them their ****.
Yeah...and he did all the work himself...in his driveway. In rural Iowa.

Fact is, people let their bias/prejudice scream loud and proud until they get their nose bloodied in a dog fight with the very thing they were just laughing off.

Side note, that Abarth (chick car remember?) holds class lap records at 6 different race tracks in the Midwest. Not bad for a car the uneducated would laugh off.

And the same can be done with a Mustang all day long.
Buy a trashed Mustang, drop in the good stuff and go.
Or any other car. Mustangs are just easier- EVERYBODY
sells stuff for Mustangs. pick your budget and target performance.
But I'm a guy in his mid 50's. From rural Iowa.
And yes, no Fiats, Mini's for me.
Chill, guy. We used to drop big blocks into a Vega.
    nothing new there.
