I saw a post the other day that someone did not hear any difference between the SDA effect using the I/C cable. Then hearing no difference w/o the cable and was hearing just a standard pair of nice speakers.I wondered about this and refered back to the SDA HANDBOOK and the test they say to perform to make sure the effect is working.According to the h/b on pages 32-33 it says tune into a radio station (monaural broadband signal as interstation noise) and then turn balance knob to the left and the only thing on the right that should be heard is the dimensional mid on the right side, ( which I did ) then reverse and again turn to the right and only to be heard is the left dd # 6511. So as far as my test went I think it passed but I do have an issue. I do not have a tuner that is built in to the pre/amp and have to use my Yamaha's tuner w/ it on audio mute. Is this ok, anything else I can do.I did recheck when I Liquid Nailed the seams that the drivers thanks to both the Handbook's pages and Darqureknights explanation are all in their correct orientation.Great diagrams btw......In my low voltage world black was always negative ,here in the Polk Universe black is positive on just about every speaker connection.

For the record, as those wiser than me pointed out to me quite a while back.....

SDA is not an 'effect'. If anything, interaural crosstalk is an effect, and SDA is the removal of that effect.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Of course my logic would consider it adding an effect.I stand corrected.

    That bears repeating.

You can also perform the test without the balance control, IF your power amp has accessible gain control knobs like my Carver does.
Getting to the Balance feature on my Pioneer AVR is a PITA. Play any low level source, doesn't have to be interstation noise, turn the right gain control all the way down. You should hear the left speaker clearly, and the right dimensional driver clearly as well. Repeat the same procedure with the left gain control.
