I think the following is right, but I may stand to be corrected: Oppo Electronics is Chinese and bought out Oppo Digital, of blu-ray fame out of Mountain View, CA. The Oppo Digital division makes the blu-ray players, and the new headphones and headphone amps (though assembly for all is likely in China). Oppo Electronics makes the high end phones apparently entrenched in China already, now seeking bigger markets. So I just reread this, and it looks clear as mud to me :)

Oppo Digital is the North American distrbuter of Oppo electronics of China, they didn't buy them. Oppo has made phones since 2008, they just didn't distribute them here, mainly in China under the Oppo name, and Russia under the BBK Electronics name.

Actually, they are computers with a phone as one application. However, in the overall scheme of things they are not that important.

Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables

Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
    Three 20 amp circuits.

I may be wrong on this but I do believe that Oppo has been making phones for the Asian market for a number of years? If so, they are simply opening up an American market here?

BTW, that Oppo headphone offering looks interesting, Danny!

But the phone of choice in China is the Xiaomi Mi-3 (or at least it is threatening to overtake the iphone and Samsung offerings). I have some pics posted in another thread but here they are again.

For those interested in the Oppo headphone, it made its debut at the recent Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. Below is a 35 page thread (and counting) on the upcoming release....
