Hello all, I am new here to club polk, and recently had the opportunity to pick up a pair of RT16's, a cs350-ls and a pair of m3II speakers. all in all it ran about $225 for everything before I sell my old center etc. I'm just wondering if I got a good deal on everything, what the opinions of each speaker is, and how they compare to my other speakers.

Speakers I'll be replacing are Energy Connoisseur C7's for the front, a polk csi a4 center, and Im using the m3II as rears, replacing a pair of rm8 satellites.

I appreciate any input I receive.

Thanks.

Hmm...I have never heard the RT16 or the Energy C7, but I have owned both the RT7 and the C3, their little brothers. I think at best you are making a lateral move, and as others have pointed in other threads (search fro rt7) the woofers in those polks are hard to find if they ever go bad. Personally I would sell my center and buy this (or wait for thsi price to go down as it probably won't sell at that price):

You'll be out about the same money at the end, and have a REALLY nice matched surround set. Now having said all that, I loved the RT7s, so the RT16s are probably great speakers, I just don't know if its worth it all things being equal.

Good luck and Welcome to CP!

RRO9SS, welcome to Club Polk. I am biased since I am currently running the RT16 with the CS350 center and the FX surrounds. I think you got a good price for them. Since I haven't heard the speakers you currently have I can't really comment on how they compare. Since it sounds like you are using it mostly for HT I would suggest you get out your favorite movie and set them up and give them a listen to see if you like them. What are you going to drive them with?

I don't understand why one buys something, and then asks if it's any good and did he get a good deal. Ask those questions before making the purchase.

Should be plenty to drive them. Hook them up and let us know what you think of them.

Well, it was a chance opportunity. The gentleman who was selling the items was selling the rt16's the cs350-ls Pair of rt600's an infinity bu-2 sub and a denon avr-5600 receiver. For everything included, 250 seemed to be an amazing pricetag. My friend called me up and we jumped on it. I ended up with the RT16's and the CS350-LS, he got the rest. We will also be sharing the cost. (not sure how we are splitting it though) input on this would be awesome.

I acquired the M3II's from the same person my friend got his CS350-LS from and was impressed with how they sounded. Overall I am am pleased with how everything sounds together. it has a much bigger /wider sound to it and sweeps across the front channels are now seamless. I was mainly curious if I got a good deal on my end as far as what I paid for what I ultimately ended up with.

So, the two mid drivers in the left channel are going out / gone. sounds like the voice coil is scraping. Luckily I found 2 MW8103 drivers to replace them. I also found 2 of the tri lam tweeters SL6501 so I figured I may as well grab them too just in case. now I plan on replacing the mids, but is there any way to repair the bad ones? Cosmetically they are perfect.

Another thing. I dont want 2 new drivers in one speaker so I am thinking of swapping a good driver from the right channel into the left and putting the "new" drivers as the upper mid in each tower. Am I correct in this rationale?

I have an opportunity to pick up a pair of mint LS90's for around $200. How do the RT16's compare?

I really love the Rt16's but the LS90's are a notch above them IMO. I'd like to own both of them as they are 2 of the Polk speakers I really loved over the years. Dude $200 bucks is a drop in the bucket, they are fantastic speakers as long as they are in good shape.
Same goes for the Rt16's , they are one of those speakers I want to pick up to own just because. Not to put in my main system or anything but to have around when I want to sit down and go back in time and remember the good ole days. They both have a unique sound that I really like.

Picked them up with an additional cs350ls for $350 heh starting a collection.... They do sound very nice. Dont know what it is, but it seems like my receiver pushes the 90's easier than the RT's. they are louder at a lower volume level. They are also in fantastic shape. Although the cs350's tweeter looks a little dark to me, not shiny like the tweets in the 90's or my other cs350.

Also thinking of selling the RT's to my brother with the 2 new drivers for $200. Part of me wants to keep them, but I dont really need them and I could really use the cash to cover the 90's. The RT's are in ok shape. maybe a little rough around the edges and one of the grilles is broken in half and the fabric is holding it together :( . The drivers are great though now that I replaced the 2 bad drivers. Thoughts?
