In one of the prev. posts about a cheep ($99) pre-pro Russ and Doc for one reason or another got in a heated arguement and I haven't seen any further posts from Doc. At first I figured that the Doc was giving it a rest but when I went to PM/E-mail him he does not want to recieve messages from this forum. I feel pretty bummed that what seemed like a small insodent must have been worse then it seemed. I never seen Doc in a argument so I'm left thinking that there must have been some previous friction between Russ and Doc and that is a shame because both (I feel) have contributed much of their knowledge to this forum and when ever either would post I would try and read them and learn something. I have done and do more reading then posting in an atempt to learn something from them. My recient upgrades have been made with the Doc's help both on and off the forum and hope that this is only a temperary withdrull from this forum. After all this all took place in the first week of the new year and that is not a good way to start it off.

Bummed

Damn man that’s a shame I tried pm him to and it wouldn’t go through. If someone here knows him personally they should contact him. You could always count on Doc to break it down. Help I need a Dr.
Wish I was a polkologist then I could call my self Dr.warviper.

Doc has been very helpful to many of us here and I cant see him leaving over that. If he has left, and I dont think he has and hope he hasn't, then it is definitely our loss. He is also at HTF as EdwardJM and maybe you can get in touch with him there.

I've noticed this too over the past few days. Very discouraging. Dr. Spec has helped out so many people here on this forum with proper bass / system calibration / and other numerous issues that it would be a tremendous loss to the forum if he decided not to return.

I don't know what "deeper" issues Doc and Russ had previously (if any) but I do think I remember Russ apologizing in that other thread and I feel that they just had different points of view on the subject matter. The $99 pre / pro has now been reviewed to be good performer but it will not be for everyone with its bass management capabilities set at 120 hz. It is however, a bottom entry level cheap way to get into HT. I personally wouldn't buy it but I can easily see where it would fit the needs of a certain group of people who have a bunch of external amps.

    Hopefully time will heal.

I don't have and never had any problems with Doc. We've swapped music / dvd's, I've gone to demo speakers locally for him to assure him of the deal he was looking at, and he's sent me some freebie brewery related 'cool' items.

Hell, just 2 weeks ago, when discussing dowmixing of 5.1 to PL, I offered up a PL processor/amp for free to him, for his kiddos room. He declined, but we've remained amiable. I've even pm'd him on occasion when things do *appear* to be getting heated (as the dowmixing thread was) to assure him I'm not just trying to wreak havoc, and his reply has always been the same.

Now, maybe Doc has a problem with me, but he seems like the kind of guy to address it, not turn tail. He probably just needs a break. I did edit some of my comments shortly after posting, just so they wouldn't be taken differently than they were intended.

Dan, shut the **** up, seriously. I knew if anyone would be the first to point fingers, you would. Doc may not be one of my biggest fans, but I guarantee he isn't one of yours.

If you guys want to blame me, go right ahead, nothing I can do about that.

    Cheers,
    Russ

I'd say lets not rush to judgement. We don't KNOW what's going on.

Doc may have other issues but I don't think he's the type to just unass. Doc is a great dude and I don't think that one post is going to make him leave. I also think that he is also secure enough to deal with the fact that people can disagree with him and even argue with him without taking it as personal vendetta.

Dan, don't you have anything BETTER to do besides trying to make things worse? If you have never seen Doc argue with anyone, you might want to pay a little closer attention.

There is no way in hell the discussion between Russ and the good Doc could have chased Doc away. Ed is very intelligent and has his duckies all in order. The way I saw it FWIW was two individuals with two very different interests regarding our hobby expressed their beliefs.

My bet is(our good Doc) is out chasing 1 of his other many interesting hobbies or has just got bogged down at the office or both.

take it easy here and keep the assumptions at bay.

Yea, they are both grown men for gosh sakes. You always need a break from this place from time to time. If we all jerked each other off around here, it would be a **** site. Disagreements are what makes the mind start thinking.

Well then who the hell is touching me????:D

I surely do not and will not blame anyone I feel each (Doc & Russ, in that discussion) had there points and when you get two or more well schooled, knowlageble people on a subject there will always be a disagreement to some degree or another. I just hope neither took it to heart it was just a disagreement of sorts IMO. Hope he returns soon I was hopeing to set-up a visit with him to see his set-up and hopefully he could show me some hi-fi stores since there is none where I'm at. He could be hunting being that it's muzzle loader season today.

Also if I should say anything to offend just let me know, cause the last thing I want is to have someone mad at me and nothing I say off subject is meant to upset anyone.

    Thanks guys

You guys crack me up :D

It's so hard to get inflection and actual meaning sometimes reading typed words, that surely doesn't help things. I have gotten into disagreements, simply based on bad sentence structure...wth am I saying? Sentence structure.....I need a beer, to dumb my **** up.
