I didn't quite know where to put this but seeing as this is more of a slight rant on a missed opportunity I figured this would be a good place to stick it. I was at goodwill yesterday and someone "just" dropped off a pair of ESS AMT-1 Towers in what appeared to be in really good shape cosmetically. I talked to the manager yesterday about buying them as is right then and she said no, they had to go through there system and that would take a while. We talked a bit more and we came to a deal that she would hold them for me until later on the following afternoon so I could pick them up after work. Well after waiting all day today I stopped by to pick up the speakers and there no speakers and a different manager. The manager didn't remember seeing them this morning when she got in so either they were put on the floor last night, they were given to an employee, or even worse they went to salvage. The manager on duty tonight was nice enough to give me the number to salvage, called them and they never received any speakers. I am leaning towards someone working for goodwill ended up with the speakers. I am going to check the local pawn shops and keep a close eye out on Craigslist to see if they pop back up.
Speakers: TL Monitor 10s, RTA 11TLs, Fortes, Thiel CS 1.2
Amplifiers: ]Ashly FTX 2001 III, Dynaco ST-70, DIY F6

I stopped going to the Goodwill in my area long ago. The "go through the system part" means first dibs for employees and management. The really nice and or unique gear never makes it to the floor, at least at my local GW.

Thats happens here alot, took in a bunch of stuff, one was an old sony tv, was top of the line at the time, had the original box, receipt, manual and remote. It never made it to the floor.

Most of the good stuff goes to their auction site. I think they have regional sites where the goodies are collected and auctioned either on eBay or their own auction site. Actually some decent deals can be had on their sites.

I agree, forget about scoring big at the stores. It won't happen.
