It was released on Blu Ray 10-08-2013 and I'm surprised no one has posted on this movie yet. Bluray.com reviewed it and said it looks great and sounds great, might have to pick this one up when the price comes down a bit. They also said the 3D was done quite well .

Me too, should pick this one up. Over on AVS they're saying could be reference for LFE, so if you want to give your sub(s) a good work out....

I wanted to see it in theaters, and am a HUGE animation fan (since ya know my degree is in that) so I will probably pick it up in a week or so.

Oops, I jumped the gun on the release date, I saw the review on bluray.com and thought it was already out, sorry guys. It's next Tuesday 10/15/13. Hey TR, I thought AVS also mentioned the under 20hz. bass was a disappointment for those with subs that dig deep. Otherwise, the bass hits long and strong.:).

I was going to say I thought it was the 15th. I was just about to jump in my truck and go pick it up.

Damn I was excited for just a second.

Yeah, as always it depends on who's opinion you listen to. I know it's created enough of a stir that I want to find out for myself! Plus I added a new sub to the mix recently so I've been trying anything with a lot of LFE lately (new and old stuff) to see what I've been missing. I'm sure I'll grow out of it :)

I just watched it last night. Picked it up on Blu ray and so worth it.
What a cool movie. Really took me back when I was a kid. Big Monsters vs Big Robots, completely love that.
As far as audio is concerned, it was such a treat. My system really got a nice workout and now I'm running 3 subs , the room was completely filled with incredible smooth bass. I had some serious low end pressure going on during some of the battles. They really used the LFE track. Pretty dynamic movie as well.

I find no fault with this movie as it was fun and very enjoyable.

So, is the synopsis that Pacific Rim is "Godzilla vs Transformers" succinctly capture the essence of this movie?

I could be down for that.

I haven't picked this one up yet, I'll wait for Christmas maybe. I have been reading about this movie over on the AVS site and for the serious ULF heads out there , unfortunately, the audio mix has been criticized because the bass extension has been filtered to where it drops off about 20 hz, so there is no ULF below that. Would be great if there was for all who have subs that can dig deeper than 20hz. There's a lot of movies nowadays you expect to come out on Blu Ray with tons of ULF ,but when they are released you get filtered audio (limited bass extension)only down to 20 something hz.

Just watched it a second time with the grandson, sounded great on the HT setup. We were going to go duck hunting this morning but he wanted to watch it a second time as we rented the Blu Ray. I will purchase this one for a Christmas present for him.

Great rent, may buy it (am a sucker for animation and sci-fi movies). Its worth a watch or two, nothing that hasnt been done, but if you wanna just throw in a movie and enjoy it start to finish and not have to think too deeply... this is your huckleberry.

But I also enjoyed Sharknado, so you be the judge

So you don't like Giant Monsters vs Giant robots I think we all get it form this response.
On another hand I thought the special effects where amazing, they really did a great job of showing you scale. The CGI looked real. You might need a better display my friend. The Audio tracks in this movie where incredible, my system at times I thought was going to crack the floor.

Sometimes we just like to kick back with some mindless fun. Not every movie or song needs to have deep special meaning or create a tear in the fabric of life. Hit play, turn up the volume and have fun without thinking very much.

This was a good movie. It was really giant robots done right. It created an amazing world filled with mechs. The CG was very well done that help with the creation of the world. While it's cool to see giant robots and giant monster fight, I got a little bored with it at one point.

I really like the audio design of it. They got how giant robots should sound like with the LFE, and I didn't get tired of it. Unlike Transformers which really just sounded like tin cans a walking around.
