They sound great, and i got it for the extremely high price of...free. Well free besides 3 hour trip and $13 in tolls. I am a happy man right now. Have them in a 5.1 surround sound setup with CS400 and SDA-CRS.

Nice.
You only need 5 surround, no need for .1 unless you really have big sub.

Way to go Kenshin! Can't wait to see your pics of them. What amp are you driving them with?

I actually typed 5.1 by habit as i have no sub. Running them off a Yamaha Rx-v371 for the moment. I was using that AVR to get Yamaha Silent Cinema for gaming with my headphones, but that will get changed soon now. All i need right now is to buy a SL-2000 tweeter for one of the SDA's that isn't working. You can see pics on the ad the seller still has up.

The ad says $100 FIRM but you got for FREE?
BTW, no need to buy tweeter as one tweeter works better.
So you can disconnect SDA tweeter from the other speaker.
Just leave them in place but disconnect.
Search threads here why one SDA tweeter works better.

The speakers were given to him and he had no intentions of using them so he offered them to me for free so my trip through new york traffic wasn't for nothing. I already know about the Sda effects from my CRS and I'm a fan so I will end up buying them at some point.

SDA will sound better on those speakers with one tweeter as mid-woofer is the one that handles SDA.
That's one reason why SDA-2 with one tweeter is considered better than those with two tweeters.
You are not losing SDA by having one tweeter on those speakers.
In any case, you can try it out first and see how you like.
Then compare with both tweeters going.

Welcome to the SDA2 family. I redid my crossovers and am enjoying the sweat music that these boxes can produce. Next for me are the RDO 194's next. Once of course the government reopens its doors.

The second (SDA) tweeter imparts a phasey effect to the over all sound that just isn't right. As suggested, disconnect the SDA tweeters for a bettter experience. There is a damn good reason Polk stopped using SDA tweeters in their later SDA models.Political Correctness'.........defined

Its running without SDA right now anyway since one tweeter is broken. I liked the sound since I got them working. Thanks for the replies.

Well, the one speaker doesn't have the SDA tweeter working, but the SDA feature is still working as long as you have the cable between the speakers connected. The SDA tweeter in the other speaker would still be working, so you should pull it out, disconnect the leads and tape them off.Political Correctness'.........defined

If you're unsure of which tweeter to disconnect, when facing the left speaker (which is clearly marked on the rear label), the left or outside tweeter is the dimensional tweeter. The right speaker is the opposite, the right or outside tweeter is the dimensional tweeter.
As F1 says, disconnect and tape off the wires, re-install the tweeter, and be sure the interconnect cable is in place.Home Theater/2 Channel:

I'm slightly confused, as it seems like the last two posts have contradicting info on using the interconnect cable. I'm currently not using the interconnect cable with the SDA-2. Are you both trying to say to use with interconnect cable and SDA tweeters disconnected for better sound? Thanks

First of all, without IC cable connected, you don't have SDA effect at all.
So you have to have to have to use IC cable. Otherwise you just have two speakers, NOT Polk SDA.
2nd, the outer dimensional tweeters do not need to be connected. So if you have outer tweeter not working, that's great.
Just disconnect the other speaker's working outside dimensional tweeter and you are good to go.
If the inner tweeter is the bad one, replace it with the good one from dimensional side.
So basically, you'll have only one inner tweeter working on each speaker and SDA is handled by the dimensional mid woofer.
No need to buy a tweeter.
After that, search threads on how to properly setup speakers for the best SDA effect.

Kenshin ,if your looking for advice I would take from these guys.A little story for you, I was contributing here but never owned a Polk product then walked into a pair of 87' SDA 2bs at a moving sale in pistine condition w/ the i/c cable and no cat scratch fever w/ the only cosmetic issue being water stained tops. Now in my twisted logic these sounded amazing to me and now knew what all these guys were yapping about for years but couldn't quite understand all the mods needed w/ such great sounding speakers to begin with. Technology does change and in this case x-overs and adding tweeters will be the best not to mention they are 26 some odd years old and went through so many climate changes that stuff does happen and I already did some minor stuff but again if these guys say to remove the SDA tweeter and tape off then do it ,it's a few screws and always use the i/c cable for that desired effect.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E
