I didn't say which tweeter I am going to use. Actually, I've not decided on that yet since we don't know what is the original tweeter parameters. If we know it's the same as a XT25TG30 (or not) then I can start from there. A Scanspeak Discovery or even a Revelator might be options.

I believe I remember seeing somewhere that the Polk version had a neo magnet(as seen earlier in the thread) and different rear chamber, which would allow the simple crossover that Polk uses in their LSi series speakers. Normally the XT-25, Scanspeak Air Circ, and others with a similar rear chamber need a more complex crossover to eliminate the "FS hump", or rise in response near the tweeter's natural resonance frequency. In other words, a different tweeter would need a different crossover. Although the face plate is interchangeable throughout most of Vifa and Scanspeak's lines, dropping in a better tweeter would still require some tweaking. Unless you have the correct tools to do so, I would consider a DIY kit using better drivers and components instead of blind part swapping.

The tweeter needs to match with the woofer or mid woofer depending on what LSi speaker you are trying to upgrade.

If you need to upgrade woofer, crossover and tweeter, I would just buy a new speaker at this point. The remaining wood cabinet should be upgraded too.

I have seen the LSi series page with Matt Polk saying it sound real many times before. I think I remember seeing the ring raidiator tweeter is customized or something in the ad.

But others (or) Polk CS could confirm it.

FWIW, the tweeters you mentioned would make your LSi speaker sounds imbalanced between mids and tweeters. It will smear tonal accuracy too.

I will just add to what FACE and F1 said, this is really not a very good idea unless you have tools (measurement tools like RTA) and knows how to tweak the XO or have someone who will help.

My money is on the 3ohm 5watt resistor in the tweeter network. I believe that one is known to open up or go high in value causing very low level output from the tweeter. I'd try swapping tweeters first as suggested above, if the known good tweeter has low output when you put it in the speaker cab in question I would investigate that resistor (R1 I think). Could be a good excuse to upgrade those crossovers if that turns out to be the issue.

I have an issue where tweeter output is noticeably lower on the right speaker using brand new crossovers from polk. Tweeter
output is there just noticeably lower than left. You mention this resistor, would that be the problem?

    Thanks

    Hello,
Try exchanging the left and right tweeters and see if the problem follows the tweeter or remains in the same speaker.

Why did you have to buy brand new crossovers? How new are they? Did the issue occur as soon as they were installed?

Necro thread bump by Kevin...seems to be a habit of his. Not bad or good, just stating a fact.
Fairly certain that the OP has resolved the issue in the intervening year or more.
