It's not like he/she spray painted a Shelby Cobra or bought the Mona Lisa and painted a mustache on it. It's just wire.

I have to wonder why his HT is that color, also maybe he could have thought about resale down the road as well.

Hey, I have a pair of black, stone-stock surrounds for sale, and haven't even gotten a serious nibble... *heads to local paint store*
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

I'm no MIT expert, but I imagine painting the cables changes the properties of the cables, any cable for that matter. And, when you change the properties, you change the sound.

I highly, seriously, emphatically, DOUBT painting speaker cable insulation covering whether cheap crap like mine or expensive stuff is gonna affect the transmission properties of the wiring inside....

Probably right, but who knows? When lying cables on the carpet is enough to affect the dielectric and alter the sound, it seems possible that paint can also have an affect. At the very least, it is a tacky and absurd thing to do.

I would think the paint seals the cable better so none of the music can leak out when traveling from the amp to the speakers.
