prayers needed once again

Last week, instead of her regular chemo, we got bad news from debs earlier scan the previous week.

They saw a new growth from the shrunken tumor in her armpit that was one of the sites they had seemed to tame with treatments, as well as something on her liver.

After seeing our reaction, Dr.Oregan, debs oncologist, was surprisingly reassuring, jumping up and saying to not be too alarmed, and there were many things they could possibly do, and they still considered this manageable.

Tomorrow Deb is undergoing yet another biopsy, this time under her right armpit, followed later in the day by a visit with her docs.

As always, my precious angel has been amazing, as with everything that has been thrown at her in life,(and that has been far more than anyone should ever have to deal with),she has taken she has taken this week of waiting in stride, taken the attitude of, "O.K. what do we do to beat this", with just a few understandable moments of anger, tears and questioning why.

The last couple days has been pretty tough, and its almost a relief to be getting up at 5 a.m. to be at Emory in Atlanta by 10, easier to take action than to sit and dread.

I know there are many wonderful folks here, many of whom know our battle, and once again, im asking for prayers, good thoughts, anything you choose to do, i believe we can make a difference with these things, and you have done a great deal before.

I dont want people to feel they have to post a response here or anything, we know you care and its so greatly appreciated, just your good karma is enough.

Not sure when, but i will of course let everyone know what we find out.

Thanks,

scott and Deb

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

Thanks to everyone from Deb and myself, your prayers and good karma mean the world.

I was mistaken about seeing the doc yesterday after the biopsy, we go back tomorrow for oncologist then a treatment, i suppose based on the findings.

The extra time allowed us to go to Murphys restaurant in Virginia highlands and get a Fried green tomato sandwich and 2 crab cakes, and share a banana pudding before heading home.

I know many of you folks have been through things like this, if you are lucky like me, you were in it with someone so strong she can prop you up at least as often as the other way around.

We still laugh far more than cry, I know that sounds strange, but its true.

Early this morning, we watched the Johnny Depp movie, "Dead Man" for the first time in years, we laughed and laughed at some parts that, on our first viewing, just chuckled at.

But there are also strangely painful moments too.

Our replacement copy of "Best of Bread came in, and we tried to give it a spin, but could not, yes just 2-3 minute 70s pop songs were too painful to listen to.

Along with it being from our carefree healthy youth, lines like, "There will always be an empty room, waiting for you, and open arms, waiting for you", were just crushing, strangely, just too real.

I dont mean to tell you this to elicit sympathy but maybe to help someone who will be facing something like this in the future, things will be very different for you forever, both good and bad, but it really does seem to even out, many times in strange ways and the least likely places.

Its very helpful just to have somewhere to tell these things, i know we all have our crosses to bear, and i hope i can be of some comfort to someone else down the road as you all have been to us.

I'm new here but you have my thoughts and prayers as well, I hate to see anyone sick or in pain :(

And not to sound cheesy but i really do believe that positive thinking can help. A few years back my mother was sick also in a similar situation and I moved in with her and was her caregiver. keep up the good fight!
