Resistor upgrade make a difference?

Its me again with another ?'s
I upgraded my speakers with new caps. but I have yet to do the resistors. My question is how much of a difference will the Mills be versus the stock resistors? Will I notice a definite improvement right off the bat.
Since I have done the caps the highs have been much forward than I care for. Will the mills pad the highs down some?

Yes and no. Yes, they can/will make a difference due to closer tolerances and build structure. No because they may not make a change to the forwardness you are experiencing. As to a change right off the bat? That may be debatable. What speakers do you have, what caps did you change to/from and is there any other thing that you would like to change besides the more "forward" sound?

I did all capacitors with Jantzens Cross caps in my SDA 2's. Last Friday I did remove the poly switch, and was told to replace it with a 0.5 ohm resistor. Right now the poly switch is bypassed. I just got the resistors in the mail today, so sometime in the next 24 to 48 hours I will be installing the mills. I was just wondering if there would be a sound difference is all. I know the caps are going to require a break-in time, but these things are way bright sounding. Never had a speaker that did not need some boost in upper frequency. But these need no boost at all. And I don't have the best of hearing anyways:)
I do have the SL2000's but will redo the tweets with RDO's at some point.
Guess I should have ask whether to run or just walk in replacing the resistors.

You will notice a difference once the 0.5 ohm resistor is in place

The RDO's will greatly help to tame down the top end. The fact that the caps were just installed presents another issue that will take care of itself as hours are put onto the circuit. New caps will tend to be bright and perhaps overcritical at first, then mellow out. You have to give them time to break in and not judge things until this has happened. This will not happen overnight, it takes time.

My apologies. I forgot to address this question. You can walk. As far as the RDO's? For that, you can run.

I would not describe SDA's as being bright or even forward sounding. As WMG said, if you bypassed the polyswitch and did not put a resistor in it's place, it's going to be bright. Go ahead and remove the polyswitch and install the 0.5 ohm mills. It'll tame some of the brightness; burning in the caps will help also as will replacing the SL 2000's with RD0-194's.

I've upgraded a variety of vintage Polks with Mills and Mundorf MOX resistors, and noticed either new resistor immediately. However, I prefer the MOX resistors due to extra top end sparkle, and what I felt was a tad more transparency.

Well how do they sound now with all the parts in the circuit? Are you happy with it I know you still need a 100 hours burn in but what's your thoughts as of now??

I like the way they sound, but have not really had a chance to really open them up to test them out. I have other things pressing at the moment, that keeps me from listening to the stereo like I normally do. But they do sound very balanced from top to bottom. Unlike previously. I have a wife and landlord that lives below me so I really cant crank them too loud.
Did the upgrade help these speakers out? Yes I can say they helped out, but nothing that blows me away at this point. But the burn in has not taken place and I have not made a full test.
I'll post for sure what I believed happen with this upgrade when all is said and done.

Still waiting for these speakers to settle down. Man this is taking awhile. The sound is all over the place in response. Some days they sound great others I want to turn them off.

Welcome to the world of burn in. Most folks wouldn't even notice what you have so far. When the sound is no longer all over the place? Enjoy.

You need to play them everyday to "burn" them in. I hated the sound of most everything I've had re-capped at first. Even if you can't listen to them, just turn them on, low volume if that's all you can do, it takes LOTS of time. It's worth it though.
