FedEx Sucks

This is the second time (AND LAST) for me accepting a package from FedEx which has had the contents damaged. I will never again accept FedEx shipping. Period.

Here is the they way they do a claim and it is a problem: I buy and pay for the merchandise. I also pay for the insurance. Item gets damaged. FedEx comes and picks it up, sends item back to seller and sends seller the claim amount. If the seller FEELS like it he can address the problem, if not he can keep the item and the insurance settlement.

The first time the seller kept the money. Never heard from him again and FedEx would not even tell me if the claim had been settled or not. "Sorry but it is up to the person who shipped it to you to give you that information, we cannot tell you".

The second time is right now. They assure me that they are only taking the package back so their adjuster can look at it and they will deliver it back to me. Today I hear the package arrived in Ala-freakin-bama. They tell me over the phone they always do this. At this point I ask if they are going to pay the shipping so I can get MY property back that I paid for and they say "No, you or the seller will have to pay for any shipping charges unless we decide there was some unique problem. Let me tell you, neither the the seller or the buyer is responsible for second time shipping costs! FedEx screwed up, not the buyer or seller. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty pissed off! UPS does not have this problem that I'm aware of. NEVER AGAIN!

"knocking on wood" I've had ZERO issues with UPS and have avoided Fed Ex intentionally due to word of mouth from a lot of you guys on this forum.

I use US Priority mail. Its faster than both Fedex and UPS and is cheaper!

I work in a government warehouse, and I get ALOT of shipments, daily. I have to say that UPS absolutely frightens me....I see them daily tossing boxes across the truck, and I inspect my incoming shipments closely before accepting anything from them.

I never have a problem with Fedex...maybe its a geographical thing? I don't know, but in my area, you avoid UPS like the plague. I've had UPS knock on my door (at home) at 10:00pm to deliver a box so they don't have to pay the late charge.

I haven't had any problems with FedEx overall. In all my talking to UPS and FedEx about claims and that process, they're about the same. According to the Reps that I've asked about this, both UPS and FedEx would have left the package there for you had the shipper indicated that he wanted it to stay there and not be returned to him. They're consistent about all settlement issues being done with the shipper only as well. Your only protection on this type of situation is to have an account set up where you have the person send you something on your account, so that you have full financial responsibility of the package and you're the only one that can be dealt with on the claim. You just have to make sure taht the shipper packages the item very well so that UPS or FedEx can't claim that there wasn't sufficient packaging.

USPS IMO is most risky especially with large/heavy items. True, most of the carriers aren't physically likely to be tossing packages around, but I get nervous about their version of tracking on pricy items. For the bigger items, they are the most expensive route to go, at least in my experiences.

Try to PAY for stuff with U.S. Postal Service money orders. Not delivering the goods or services when paying with one of those is a federal offense. Making that statement to a lowlife non-performer can be a real attention getter.

Does anyone see any reasoning behind the shipper being in control? I'm wondering why because the merchandise actually belongs to me at this point because the shipper has already been paid. I'm just not getting it.

On the first deal the shipper walked off with the cash and FedEx said it was of no concern to them. They wouldn't even tell me if the claim was settled or if so how much was paid. They said they could only tell the shipper and I would have to ask him. (that would have been fine if he could be found)

"THEY" view it as the shipper paid for the insurance, not you. You most likely gave the shipper the money to buy the insurance, but the "contract" is with the the guy who actually gave them the money.

Here is an update. I think the Bose are no more. FedEx shipped it back to the shipper (even though I confirmed with them that it WOULD NOT be shipped back to the shipper because I no longer had any recourse with him), the shipper filed a claim, is getting paid, has someone fixing it in some fashion and informs me he wants immediate feedback even though I have not received the speaker. (he didn't even leave me any). He says FedEx is paying the shipping but nonetheless, he wants me to pay to have them shipped back to me. It sounded to me as if they are being held for ransom. I pretty much told him to FO.
Bye bye Bose and let the games begin... I will have to follow through with this one. This is why I made sure FedEx was not going to ship them back to the shipper! Now I have one perfect 901 for $600. Someone is going to pay!
