Big amp to replace my polk RT3000p's

I have 4 polk audio RT 3000p's and 3 of the subwoofer amps don't work properly. Instead of spending the $ to get them fixed, I was considering running my 2004 re audio **** 18. It's a D4 ohms sub so I'd like a amplifier that can put out a good 1000rms at 2 or 8 ohms. I can build and design an enclosure for it.
My question is what's an efficient and decent SQ amplifier I can use?
I'm somewhat new to home audio. What's a good price to sell the rt3000p amplifiers for on eBay (they will help fund my amp). Amplifiers turn on but 2 of them make a humming sound and all 3 of them cause the subwoofers to produce an annoying cracking sound. Thank you for all the help, Joseph.

Since they don't work why do you think anyone wants them?Political Correctness'.........defined

1500 rms amp for under $200 shipped? There is a reason why it's that cheap.

I know you have seen people paying $ for amplifiers that need to be repaired. If you don't want to help me, stay out of the thread. -

It's ok I'll unsubscribe myself from your polk audio forum. Have a good day.

If the amps are working fine and have been repaired/updated or just have minor issues(Caps, voltage regulator) then maybe someone will pay $75-$150 each for them if they are the DIY type....but how would one know? IMO, no more than $50 for a questionable amp. Once one factors in the cost to buy a used amp, the cost to ship, the cost of shipping to be repaired, the cost of the repair, and the cost to ship back....It might not be worth it for someone that has amps already that can be repaired. The issue with these amps is that sometimes the PCB go bad or get damaged to the point that most shops won't touch them. Then, they are a pain to ship...you have top be very careful in packaging these and don't ship mutiples together unless they are seriously isolated from knocking into each other. These is a guy on ebay asking $150+$50 shipping for a used amp with issues like yours. Not sure who would pay that much?
I have a couple that have several issues that had me scratching my head. I will pull them out again and go at repairing them again. But, I have $200 invested in the amps, ~$50 in parts already and I need more, and one was badly damaged from shipping....So, if I get one working I will be lucky. The reality is...I could have bought a new amp for $120-$199 or a more powerful used amp.
So get what you can get for them.2.2 Office Setup | LG 29UB55 21:9 UltraWide | HP Probook 630 G8 | Dell Latitude | Cabasse Stream Amp 100 | Boston Acoustics VS 240 | AUDIORAX Desk Stands | Mirage Omni S8 sub1 | Mirage Omni S8 Sub2 -

Bit of an odd duck there. I wonder what his response would have been had I recommended the Musical Fidelity Titan amp?Political Correctness'.........defined

Thank you. I appreciate your advice. I have read in the past of the rt3000p amps being in high demand. And I have sold a non working carver amp for $110 on eBay last year so I thought these would be worth something but I was wrong. Thank you for the response. -

I guess I deserved that. -
F1nut is one of the best members here you may not like what he has to say sometimes but he speakith the truth. That being said I can also see someone else who has the time and money would be interested in those. If it were me I'd get them fixed. If I remember right there are cap and resistor problems with those as they get older. I just watched a Carver TFM45 that was in rough shape and didn't work but it was worth 300.00 to someone on eBay. So toss another 400.00 into it and you have a good amp but that was a big 300.00 gamble.

I was convinced he was giving me attitude but I see now that he was trying to help and I came off as the rude one.
I think what I'll do is put the rt3000p's in the storage for now instead of tossing them in the trash. Some of the polk subwoofers are also blown and the only time I seen them for sale was $180 plus $15 shipping used on eBay. It just doesn't seem worth it.
After looking for about 5 years, I recently found an older re audio **** subwoofer (xbl^2) and I would really like to use it. In a proper enclosure, it will play much lower then the Rt3000p woofers with unbelievably low distortion. I also enjoy building enclosures and I am really looking forward to start the project. When I read "cheap pro amp" I really thought he was trying to insult me. But if its a good quality amplifier to run, then I'll go ahead and get one. -
It will probably be the only time you ever see Jesse recommending a pro amp for a home set up. When using one for the bottom end you do not have to worry about losing any micro details in the upper regions.
-
Pro amps are fine for sub duty. I was running a sub on an old(15-20 yrs.old?) Crest Audio Professional 4000 amp and it ran fine.
-
Ok thank you! I didn't realize that the quality of the subwoofer amplifier doesn't make a huge difference.
Another rookie question- how do I order one of those? I did a search on eBay for "pro amplifier" and I had a lot of different results. Is there a full name to the brand? -
Look for a crown, crest, etc. For example a Crown XTi 1000/2000/3000/4000 will run those subs fine. The 1000 should be more than enough for two channels.
There are many other brands as well, Crown is just the first one that comes to mind.Main Surround -

Thank you! Before I purchase on impulse, I will look around a bit more. Possibly even by a used one with a WTB ad and gives me time to do more research on them. It will take me a while before I complete the enclosure so I have time. But at least I know now what to look for:) -
