Question about plastic dome cover on SL2000

A SL2000's plastic dome has a dent on one of my monitor 7's. I removed the allen bolts and seperated the actual tweeter from the cover that has the plastic dome attached, and the speaker itself looks fine. Does the dent hurt anything sonically? When a replacement speaker is ordered from Polk, does this cover + dome come with the tweeter? By removing the cover did I possibly damage anything? I appreciate all the advice- I wasn't able to generate a response in the 'speaker' forum.

Since you have seperated the pieces, just push out the dent with your finger. Should be fine after that. Polk does not sell the SL2000 anymore, but you can find them here and on eBay at times. The replacement Polk sells now is different and you should replace all the tweeters at the same time. It has been reported by many that the new tweeter sounds better than the SL2000, something you may want to consider.

Is it generally a bad idea to seperate the dome from the tweeter though? It seemed easy enough, but for all I know there's something special in the way they were originally assembled and I just screwed it up. Just looking for an opinion...

Also, Even though I pushed it out, the dome plastic material doesn't pop out fully- it leaves 4 small identions around the central axis. Is this something to be concerned with?
