i recently picked up my first pair of speakers in the SDA CRS. i'm thinking of a surround system with possibly RT-5 rear speakers and was looking at center speaker. someone is selling CS175i in my area for $40, and my other options are CS245i or CS400 but those arent local. the CS175i isnt in the vintage forum search so i'm kind of stuck. can i get someones opinion on this? thanks.

Monitor 5, 7, or even 10 if you can fit it for center and monitor 4, 4.5, 5jr, or 5 for rears.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

You need to match the timbre as close as possible, especially the Center. Surrounds should be from the same era as well.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Your rt5's should be fine for now. Excellent speakers for $40.Display: Sony 42" LCD

i didnt get the rt5 just yet, maybe for tomorrow. there is also a monitor 7b for sale close to the rt5 for $100 that is a consideration for the rear. i cant use those for centers because they take up too much space. that cuts my budget pretty close, but is it worth spending the extra cash? sorry for all the questions.

Monitor 7's are regarded as the best of the vintage Monitor series by many.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

I would get the Monitor 7's over the RT5's. Most definitely worth the extra money.Display: Sony 42" LCD
