How often do you buy or rent a Blu ray movie Vs streaming?
After what Hollywood did to rentals on Blu ray , I refuse to Rent a Blu ray movie and turned to Streaming Via Apple TV and VuDu. I rarely find myself buying any Blu ray movies. It's not a quality thing for me as I love the very best quality but movies I'm only gonna watch once I stream now.
If it's an action packed high quality audio movies and I know I'm gonna watch it more then once , I'll buy it , if not I'll still stream it.

What Hollywood did really killed my Renting experience. I even canceled Netflix Blu ray first , then the service altogether. if it wasn't for excellent shows I would cancel all my pay channels like Showtime etc

For me, movies fall in to a couple categories:

For movies where visuals and audio are at an absolute premium I buy the BluRay disc. Even if it's not a movie I'll watch more than once I'll still buy it since renting BluRays isn't really an option given the lack of consistent lossless audio support. My BluRay collection is bigger than I'd like because of the movies in there that I've only watched once, but don't know of an alternative way of getting top tier quality for those. I'm curious how an HD stream on, say, an Apple TV compares to a BluRay disc in terms of quality. If the quality of an HD stream is good enough, I could probably use that instead of buying a BluRay that I'll only watch once. But do the Apple TVs and other streaming devices even have lossless audio support?

For movies where I don't care too much about the quality, I'll rip those down to my media server and stream those via one of the Apple TVs.

To put those two into context, I have about 120 BluRays and about 1500 movies, so my streaming collection is obviously alot bigger.

I don't stream either. If it's a movie that I know is a one time gig, I don't go out of my way to watch it to begin with and wait until it comes on free TV......or on demand in cable.

Good movies.....Blu-ray and I'll buy it if it's really good.

Mix. For shows, I'll do Amazon if not DVR'd. Movies, its all about BD baby, nothing is like an HD soundtrack. We rented 'Mama' last night, AWESOME soundtrack and pretty great movie. And by soundtrack, I don't mean the music, just the overall mix of the surround. So lifelike through the 100's.

Mostly streaming unless it's something special, then i'll buy the Blu-Ray. Last one I bought was season 2 of Game of Thrones and I don't bother with rentals.

Don't stream or rent. I collect (purchase) blu-ray concerts mostly, some movies (probably 60-40). Most blu concerts run $15 or so and have excellent sound, and I tend to watch them many more times than I would a movie. Most blu movie purchases are new, a few I buy 2-3 months old from a local rental shop for $7-8. Seems like half of my movies now are animated (grandkids )

I haven't done much of either in months, only because of the quality of flix coming out.

I buy BR movies, and TV shows, that I want to watch under the expectation I will watch it again at some point. How many depends on what is being released that week. I check Amazon every Thursday to see what is being released the coming Tuesday, and order if there is something I want. I have a 1 regular DVD at a time plan with Netflix for other movies to watch. In this case, I do not need BR quality. I have never streamed, but who knows about the future.

    What did Hollywood do?
On rental Blu ray movies , they removed the Dobly True HD or DTS Master Audio tracks and replaced them with just Dolby Digital or DTS. WHY? From what I read it's attempt to force people to buy Blu ray movies instead of renting them.

Hmmm.....all of the Redbox rentals I've watched lately either had Dolby True HD or DTS Master.

It's hit or miss for me, some rentals have the lossless tracks and some don't.
