Depends on your gear, and what you can afford. Personally, I am now a Shunyata fanboy for interconnects, speaker, and power cables. However, I also have enjoyed MIT Shotgun S1.3 interconnects and Omega Mikro speaker cables. Point being there are a sh!tload of good cables to choose from.
Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD; Pass XP-22 pre; X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes

Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables

Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
    Three 20 amp circuits.

i think i need at least 6 feet ... and is his story correct "MIT recovered a shipment to an overseas distributor that was "lost" in 2009 -- and we bought the whole thing"?

BTW thanks for all your replies for my questions i honestly appreciate it.

Yes, he's the one and yes, I was talking to Kent (VP marketing) at MIT today about another matter, he told all about the NOS cables and that Joe bought them all.

Some matching speaker cables here, http://app.audiogon.com/listings/speaker-mit-shotgun-s3-8-ft-pair-a-true-classic-new-old-stock-lifetime-wrnty-2013-07-29-cables-85641

From first hand experience, I can say MIT's and LSiM's work extremely well together. No experience, but I'm sure the Shunyata cables would be an excellent choice as well.

I think you meant average cable for the surrounds, so yes to your question.

No, they will work well with what you have now and still be there down the road should you upgrade gear in the future. Quite likely, the last cables you'll ever need.

Ditto what John says. I own some MIT S1 cables and I love them. Depending on your budget, Doug's cables are a great choice for the money. Check his website to see how they are built.

OK this is what i was thinking from opinions here and from other threads

    1) MIT Shotgun S1 8 feet(If that Audiogon dealer gives me better deal )
    2) MIT Shotgun S3 8 Feet (Looks like mostly i will end with this for fronts)
    3) For other speakers http://www.douglasconnection.com/

I would like to get a MIT for center too and done with it....dont want to be in "what if" situation.

will they sell single cable for center channels? or do you buy pair and use one?

I think that's a solid plan, but try to get a single MIT for the center because for HT the center carries a lot of the load.

You can ask Joe if he'll sell a single. He's a great guy to work with and will do whatever he can to help get what you need. If he doesn't have or can't sell a single, many folks buy the pair and put the other up for sale. You'll often see singles for sale on Audiogon and eBay.

BTW, he is an authorized MIT dealer, no worries. If you do end up talking with him, tell him Jesse from Polk says hi.

I take it Joe didn't hang up the phone when you mentioned my name....LOL

You're going to be a happy camper. Remember, they need about 200 hours of burn-in before their full character comes out.
