yea I like Tom he never gets old but he was kinda small for playing Jack Reacher like when he beat up all those guys ..come on
Ben just doesn't seem like the right pick it's not size its just the nice guy image he conveys

There is a lot of push back on this in the press. I thought Tom C as Jack Reacher (6'4" 230 lbs by the books) would be a disaster but he did a pretty good job, I'm willing to give Ben a shot

Take some time and read through this thread from 2006 on the casting of Heath Ledger as Joker in Dark Knight. It's so funny how everything I'm reading on Ben Affleck, literally is the same as when Ledger was cast. All the "You've got to be kidding" comments to "Is it April Fools already?" and the one I like...."The second Batman series has officially been killed!"

I'm not saying Ben will pull off that kind of performance, BUT, you never know. Anyone with a crystall ball wants to prove me wrong right now at this moment, go right ahead.

Give the guy a chance for crying out loud!

If Affleck's version of Batman is a whining, snotty weak little **** of a man that needs to be rescued like some damsel in distress, then they cast him perfectly. I understand Woody Harelson and Ralph Macchio also turned down the role, along with that kid from Terminator 2.

Frankly, I was not that impressed with that "mess" of a Joker Heath put together. That second Batman film is an EDITOR'S nightmare. Very badly edited. WAY TOO LONG and RAMBLING, too many things going on, etc. Not to speak badly of the dead, but had Ledger not left us, I wonder what the reviews of this film would have been. If you love confusion and bad filmmaking then you loved this film.

So as to commentary concerning Affleck, well, since Ledger was at least a decent actor, I wouldn't worry about "any" similarities between the two periods. If this second Superman "rivals" The Dark Knight, then only fans will like it? And I'm pretty sure I'll be "amused" in a bad way! I, honestly, can't sit through an ENTIRE showing of the second Batman film without getting unbelievably BORED! It so tedious.

[It] tasks me! [It] tasks me, and I shall have [it]! I'll chase [It] round the Moons of Nibia, and round the Antares Maelstrom, and round Perdition's flames before I give [It] up! [WRATH OF KHAN]

    Or not!

Nothing wrong with that, since that's what generates Billions of dollars for Hollywood. For full disclosure, I've never seen a GREAT superhero film. There are some that are good. But it's tough to be great because I compare them with great films outside their genre and they never cut the mustard.

Let's face it. We're talking entertainment films, Hollywood blockbusters, etc. Nothing wrong with that. As an example. I saw Spielberg's Close Encounters when it first came out and I almost busted a gut laughing through the entire film, I thought it was so ridiculous. And yet I was one of the "only" people to remain in a NYC showing of Tarkovsky's Stalker, when over half that sophisticated NY audience walked out on it. If Hollywood took "my" opinion seriously, they'd be "bankrupt"! lol

Please, unless they are going to a voice over for Ben. Batman should not have that girly voice that comes out of Ben's mouth, period. Bad choice in my book, but thats standard issue for the Batman or Superman movies. They just can't seem to get it together like their comic book rival.

If your point is, as a "financial success" they made at least one dollar over cost, then maybe so but all of those movies are regarded as the pits of the Batman movies......and that's my point.

I for one just can't see Ben attempting another super hero movie. I figured he would even stay as far away from action movies as he possibly could. He is more suited for dramas, and I just can't see him pulling off Batman.

I think the character Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory would be a better choice.

I could be wrong, but this will definitely be a rental, but only if others say it was at least tolerable.

Looking at all these comments makes me wonder if people have already forgotten how bad Bale was as Batman. He was decent enough as Wayne, but was a horrible Batman with the constant growl of unintelligible speech. Am I the only one who thinks this???

No, you're not. Anyone can play Batman... The question is whether they can play Bruce Wayne. And if you look at the New 52 run of Batman, Affleck looks pretty astonishingly like Bruce Wayne. Given how good he has been in recent flicks, I'm willing to trust the casting.

All of them made the studios big money and that's ALL they care about. Even Batman & Robin made them a bundle of cash in the end. Not talking a dollar over cost. I do agree they were the pits as movies but it's always about the money.
