Contact Polk for the replacement woofer as iirc they still sell them.
As far as the crossover I will leave that to the more veteran folks"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
Get the model number off the back of the speaker. (MW7010)

Send both crossovers to VR3!!!

Get the driver from Polk CS and send your crossovers to VR3. The RTA-12(x)'s have complicated crossovers, be prepared to get a little sticker shock.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Definitely follow up with member VR3. The assistance I've been getting has been epic. Helpful, pleasant, and informative. I've also placed the first installment of parts order with him. It will take a while to get all I need, but it will be worth it.
Good luck!

If those are original RTA 12's (not B's or C's) they only have one Xover, the one on top of the cabinet. SHouldn't be to complicated or expensive to upgrade caps and resistors.
As someone above recommended, I'd go with Sonicap caps and Mills resistors."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
HERE is a link to my RTA that I just recently recapped. I used a combo of Sonicraft and Clarity capacitors to help save cost matched with Mills resistors. I was on a pretty tight budget when I did these, so going all out was not an option for me.Speakers: TL Monitor 10s, RTA 11TLs, Fortes, Thiel CS 1.2
Amplifiers: ]Ashly FTX 2001 III, Dynaco ST-70, DIY F6

MW 6501 is correct.
I am not that familiar with these and it's always best to inventory what you have
before you start.
Crossovers are not hard to do it's like everything else do you want to learn or do you
just want it done for you. The extra expense plus the hassle cost of mailing them and the fact
I like to be hands on with this hobby, it was an easy decision for mewestmassguy wrote: »The RTA 12 takes MW6501 woofers

Here are some pictures. I would like to have someone rebuild them because it looks to be a big job for me. The one speaker when the crossover went out, the tweeter is making a little sound but the rest of the speakers are dead. The other speaker is working, but want them to be the same so i want to redo the other crossover as well. Dose any one know what it cost to go though the crossovers??
Thanks for all of the input best place so far for info -

For what it is worth I do -all- Polk Audio crossover repairs for just the cost of shipping and parts. They have to be "standard or slightly better parts."

And where to get the parts
-
Email us at Vr3Mods@GMail.com
We are a dealer for 90% of the parts out there!
Best thing to do would be to send the crossovers and see what parts need to be replaced and we can quote from there!
